TLX Technology 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

I have a 2016 Tech Package 2.4L and shortly after purchasing it, the transmission began hesitating and jerking. The issue is most prominent when the car is cold. It hesitates then jerks going from a stop and into 1st gear (stop sign for example). Acura has been unable to replicate the issue since it's most prevalent when the engine is cold and it also doesn't happen 100% of the time from stop to go. Extremely frustrating!

TLX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

I'm just finding out about this website from my brother in law. Like everyone else in this forum, I have the same transmission jerking problem. After reading all these previous posts, I am encouraged to take this car to the shop, hopefully it will replicate when the technician is driving it...we'll see.

My 2016 Acura V6 Tech Pkg has been doing this for a while and I just thought it was normal, but the transmission hits very hard like I've been tapped from another vehicle behind me...but I haven't. It scares my teenage daughter when it does it. It does it at slow speeds or in stop-and-go traffic, the transmission just jumps HARD! I've noticed it's been jerking a lot more than it use so now I will have to report to the Acura dealer I take it to for service. This isn't good...a $42k luxury vehicle acting like this. My 2015 did it too, but again I thought it was normal.

I just hate it when you take it to the dealer and they can't get it to replicate...they kill me with that! If they can't get it to replicate they won't fix it. Just like my BRAKE light in the dash keeps coming on (separate issue).

TLX TLX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

I have owned Acura's since 1993 and this is the first time the technology has failed. I do hope that there is a solution or that I am made whole given the safety concerns of the jerking motion when stopped will result in a collision with another vehicle.

tranmission rough upshift 2nd and third gear

the problem is with upshift and downshift in 2nd and third gear mostly cold engine. its almost get stuck in a gear and take too long to shift which cause it to jerk or you hear clunk. it does fine in the higher gears.

TLX Technology Package 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 123 miles

Like the 2015 TLX Transmission, my new 2016 started hesitating and surging after only 100 miles. This is a brand new vehicle and I am concerned it is unsafe. It hesitates while shifting between 2nd and 3rd gears which happens to occur during most critical periods of acceleration. Crossing an intersection or turning across oncoming traffic will be problematic if this is not remedied.

The dealership dismissed my concern stating it was a "sharp shifting vehicle" and assured me that the acceleration progressions are completely normal. This is simply not an honest response. The transmission is reason enough to stay away from this wolf in sheep's clothing.

Been a Nissan owner for years and it is going to be appalling to trade in an Acura with less than 1000 miles for a Maxima or Altima. Just wish the car business were honest and a "luxury" brand like Acura would own up to its under-performing product and stop lying to hard working people like me who saved for many years and were SOLD on a promise that this issue was resolved.

terrible - transmission jerks 2016 tax v4

I had a 2008 TL and loved it. car was totaled and I decided to get either TLX or mazda 6 GT. Heard the transmission problem on 2015 TLX and some post said the 2016 model had no issues - problem fixed. I trusted the Acura's reliability and tested the car I was going to get for 20 min. I did not find any transmission issues and therefore got the TLX on March 2016. What a mistake! After 400 miles or so the problem came out. The car jerks between 0-30 miles/hr (at 3 speed locations and I believe at 3 gears) when accelerate the speed all the time and now at 700 miles it jerks when break the car to slow the speed from 30 to 0. Not sure if Acura really got a solution to the issues. No more Acura if no solution for the problem.
