So I have always had a problem with my head lights flickering and once in a while the light will go out completely with a warning message "low dip". In 2011 I replace one head light and Audi covered the cost of 50% of the part. This is after I had just spend $4500 to repair the timing chain at 85000 mi- ouch. I am now having problems with the other head light I took it to the dealership and they said I probably needed a new housing for the light at a cost of $1000 plus $200 labor. I just got off the phone with Audi and they offered no assistance. So I have 107,000 miles and have had lots of problems with this care. You would think Audi would want to keep customers happy but they just shot me down.

I love this car. The only problem I have had with it that I have seen many others have also had is the flickering headlight issue. This is with the HID headlights. When they turn on everything seems fine, then while driving one or even both headlights will flicker usually while braking and then one light may go out altogether and you get a "headlamp dipped" error message on the dash. The Audi dealer seemed mystified with the problem and wasn't sure what would fix the problem. They guessed it could be the bulbs and maybe the ballast and wanted to charge $500-600 to attempt to fix it. I decided to change the bulbs myself ($100, thanks HID Canada) which does involve removing the front bumper. 3 hours later and two new bulbs and the problem is solved.
