A6 Premium Plus 2.0L

I have a 2013 A6 that had an overfilling fuel injector on cylinder #3. Had all the complete scheduled maintenance and was driving fine. Then drove home from work and the car started "stumbling" and misfiring. Drove to safest place about 0.5 to 1 miles and then had car towed to dealer.

Mechanic at dealer confirms that 3rd cylinder fuel injector was "open" and overfilled cylinder which resulted in catastrophic damage and entire engine will need to be replaced. Has this happened to anyone else? I see at least one other person has had the same issue. The dealer said that it was technically out of warranty (now just 1 year and 2 months over) and 91 miles outside of 50,000, so it's technically not covered.

Dealer however offered in conjunction with discussing it with Audi corporate I guess of paying 75% of repairs and I would be responsible for 25%. While that is nice to offer, it just seem ridiculous that a an essentially 50K luxury vehicle has needs a completely new engine and I'm responsive for a portion of it. Regardless, of if I am able to pay for it, it just doesn't seem right. I'm a first time Audi owner and will see how this process goes before considering to buy another Audi.

Anybody else having this issue or is it a random event? Thanks.

A6 S Line 2.0L Tfsi

While on a trip my A6 started losing power and misfiring without any notice or engine light, I immediately stopped and removed the engine cover and I noticed a hole on the intake manifold. I cut my trip short and drove to an Audi dealership in Polokwane. I booked my vehicle in and the diagnosis i got was that injector number 3 was over-fuelling and damaged the engine. The solution proposed was to overhaul the engine and the quote I got came to R103 000 ($6750).

The vehicle has full service history by Audi and has 130 000 km on the clock. The maintenance plan I got when I purchased the vehicle was 100 000km or 5 years which ever came first. The vehicle was 2.5 years old at the time of the breakdown. I believe this is a factory fault and Audi must take full responsibility for the costs to fix because Audi petrol powered vehicles never have injector failure only diesel Audis.

The mechanic told me that the only cause for this is old age but I don't believe him at all because Audi vehicles are built to last more than 130 000 km. I should not be sitting with a car requiring complete engine rebuilt at only 130 000 km and 2.5 years old. th3e vehicle was well maintained and serviced at the correct intervals and never abused. I had a 2011 A4 1.8 T which I traded for this A6 and it never gave me such issues yet the mechanic says it like its a common problem. has anybody out there experienced the similar problem with a petrol Audi and what was the mileage on the vehicle?
