Takata recall my BMW dealer/service center in mountain view, ca states that they do not have the E92 airbags to replace my defective airbag. They tell me it will take months to get a new airbag. I would like the NHTSA to contact BMW about this matter and encourage them to make this a top priority. I've been driving around with this defective part long enough, and BMW has a responsibility to act swiftly to reassure owners that they are on top of this. I would ultimately like my dealer to contact me with the part asap and have this repair completed.

The vehicle brings up a warning light on the dash indicating that the passenger airbag is disabled due to seat occupancy, even though I have a passenger sitting in the passenger seat. This happens at all times. This is a safety concern because in the case of an accident, the car would not deploy the passenger airbag.

" takata recall " : I remember the moment my car accident happened ( 7-18-17 ) : when I arrived del Mar pharmacy's parking lot ([xxx] ), absolutely I slowed down my car and approaching the parking space. When my car 's front tires touch one side of the pavement ( there are 2 pavements separated apart about 3 feet with soil where are planted with flowers, each pavement is approximately 1/2 foot thick and 1/2 foot high ). while I stepped on my car's brake pedal, I felt the car suddenly lose control and it jumped on my side's pavement, and almost at the same time, both air bags burst, made the car ran over to almost a half of the distance between 2 pavements ( about more than 2 feet ) and hitting the rear of another parking car ( on opposite side of my car's parking space ( lot ). I didn't know what reason had made the braking system didn't function well, then the car jumped on the pavement, and both air bags suddenly burst, made the car madly jump over to another side of parking space ( opposite side ) and made the accident serious ( 1 car's rear almost was crashed, another car's rear on the other side of parking space was hit by this car' S head. Finally, the police came to make the report, and my car was towed away to my friend's parking lot. After 1 week, I called the repair shop which fixed my car's brake system in June. Now it is still there, and waiting for BMW investigating more than 3 weeks already, but still without any result if you still have any questions, please just email me. I will do my best to explain every detail. Sincerely, yours : [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My passenger airbag off and seatbelt warning lights are constantly lit up on both the dash and the airbag light on the roof. This began a couple months ago one day when I started the car and has been constant since. I brought my car in to be diagnosed and was told that I have a faulty passenger occupancy sensor, and was quoted $1,100 to repair. It has come to my attention that there was a recall on this sensor in many 2004-2007 BMW vehicles including the 328I, just not my year. I have seen a large number of complaints online by other owners of the same problem that also feel that our vehicles should be included in the recall of a faulty part that is damaging to the safety and general functioning of the vehicle. We have all already just had to wait for over a year to have the takata recall done, mine is just now being completed. I am very disappointed in the safety functions of BMW as well as their handling of such issues, and wish to have additional vehicles outside of those three years included seeing as it is the same exact faulty sensor that affects those cars. I believe that not doing so would warrant a legal claim and following class action lawsuit if BMW continues to refuse and ignore claims on this issue.
