I love this BMW and this car is near perfect, but I feel that this issue, although minor, can end up costing someone thousands in damages due to poor camera visibility.

The problem only affects white and/or light colored F30 cars equipped with backup cameras. During the day or times with sufficient light (shopping centers, parking garages) the rearview camera is clear and well illuminated, but at night, esp. on dark roads or even areas with little/no light, the white colored rear bumper is reflecting too much light onto the camera lens meaning that you get a terrible view of anything farther than a foot away from the bumper.

Went to dealer and of course I got the "its within BMW spec" response.

The only fix I was able to do was buy a black colored bumper guard, the ones that protect against scuffs when placing things in the trunk. What the black colored sticker does is not reflect any light into the camera lens, giving you very good visibility/night vision on the rear view camera.

This defect is potentially dangerous because people could steer into a high curb, street pole, parking meter, or another car since the visibility is so limited.
