The audio issues run a lot for the 745 as they cost a lot to replace. When my Navigation system failed (located in the trunk) it cost $300 to get another used one. Then that logic 7 amp is a fortune to replace and the ask-cd system is just a bother. You know these things failed because the audio in the car will either have static, some speakers don't work, or it cuts in and out with possibly a popping noise. A good way to test it is buy this thing called a fiber lollipop tester, it just hooks into the fiber connection for the devices that you think may be failing and turns them off. Thus if the audio starts to work you know that was the failing device.
