signal lights and lights randomly going on and off

I had to drive with four way flashers because the signal lights would randomly go on signalling turns I had no intention of making. Headlights would also go from dim to bright at random. I researched the problem on line and through BMW forums and found two other incidents.

The fix was not as the dealer suggested, but rather replacing the automatic headlight levelling sensor.

I ordered the part, had the dealer do it, and it was fixed.

Without first finding a solution the dealer likely would have just kept replacing signal light relays.
