coolant tank thermostat bad

You can see from my earlier post that the coolant tank will go bad. Part of the problem usually is the thermostat. The thermostat is very brittle and will break when removing the tank. Expect to pay approximately $80-$100 for the piece. Since I did my own repair I am not sure what a mechanic would charge to do this but it will definitely be an addition to the earlier costs that I reported. Again not a bad fix if your already in there doing this on your own or else expect to pay labor charges on top of this. Also a side note BMW uses its own coolant which runs between $20-$25 a gallon.
