Z4 3.0 3.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 32,000 miles

Recently, my 2007 BMW Z-4 has developed a scary problem with the steering with about 33,000 miles on it. The car will jerk to the left or right and cannot be kept under control without constant effort. It is getting worse and i have taken it off the road since know one seems to know what is causing this dangerous condition. I have had the tires rebalanced twice and checked for tread issues and separation but that did not help. I took the car in to a BMW specialist and he checked it out for loose suspension or alignment issues and proclaimed it as no problems there.

What happens is the car dangerously, pulls right or left and it is even worse when turning and almost seems to feel like the brakes are being randomly activated momentarily when on the highway at normal highway speeds. This very scary and dangerous. There is a feeling that the steering is grabbing a bit when the steering wheel is being turned. I am not comfortable driving this anymore as the problem is getting worse.

I have been researching this on the web and there has been some issues that mention that there are issues with the Electric Steering.

Does anyone have more info on this? This is a very serious Problem!!!!!!
