I filed this under fuel deliver system problems because this is what everyone else who had the same problem filed it under. Maybe we're all bat-sh*t crazy, but the consistent belief of cutting out the catalytic converter should fix the problem. I had replaced the plugs, wires and fuel filter shortly before the problem occurred so I figured that wasn't it but you never know. It started to cut out on 3/4 of a tank, so I eliminated that. (I've run out...... recently) In my defense gas is over $4 a gallon. What sucks is 2 days before this the harmonic balancer pulley ring FELL OFF and had be replaced, along with the belt 3 weeks ago. So I get 2 miles from the house and the car dies, so I check everything I know to check and everything seems fine, hmm. So I turn around, take it to the house and park it. My boyfriend spends all night checking it out and finds a few things wrong but nothing that would cause it to cut out and die. So today I made it 4 miles and it dies in the parking lot, much better place than yesterday. So I start it back up and park it in a space, run in, and do my grocery shopping, took about 30 minutes, go back out and it fires right up, but I notice this awful ticking noise. I made it to the gas station, about where I broke down yesterday, which is halfway between the grocery store and the house, kill it and run in for a few minutes, go back out start it up and the ticking noise is worse. it died about a quarter mile from the gas station and wouldn't start back up. So the kids and I got a ride back to the house, but left the groceries in the trunk. about 45 minutes later my uncle went and picked up the groceries and said he started it just fine, hmm, a couple hours later my husband went and picked it up and DROVE it home. ran fine, but still ticking. So we are replacing the catalytic converter, and maybe solving a really aggravating problem. If I could afford a new car I definitely wouldn't be driving this one! Over the last few months I've had more ridiculous problems than its worth.

we have checked the fuel pressure and the fuel filter and changed the air control sensor and it still won't work, any mechanic I have talked to says they don't know whats wrong because it is not showing any codes when it is on the diagnostic machine.
