The motor and cables do not operate, preventing the windows from rolling up. This could cause the passengers not to have an emergency exit in an accident. Manufacturer has been contacted by consumer, and is aware of the problem.

My driver's side rear window just decided to quit working one day while my window was down. I was finally able to get my window back in the closed position only to be driving down the road one day and my window fell down by itself and won't stay up. Now I am having to replace my electirc motor in this window. I have already had to replace the electric motor and regulator in my front driver's side window. It seems to me, judging by all the complaints, that there should be a recall on this year model electric window motors. When is Buick going to step up and fix this problem?

Since purchased new, a 2000 Buick Lesabre has had all four power window regulator assemblies fail without warning, I.e., the windows stopped working, (not all at one time, but over the intervening years) creating a safety problem in the event of a need to evacuate the car, to conduct business at a toll lane, for example, or to respond to a police traffic stop. And the driver's window has failed a second time, after having been repaired by Buick, for a total of five failures of the same electrical/mechanical system. Buick replaced the first assembly under warranty. The next three repairs cost approximately $435 each at Buick. The fifth repair was done at an independent repair facility at a cost of $333. The independent shop and several other sources have anecdotally related many other incidents of an obviously defective electrical/mechanical system. Buick has acknowledged some liability and has agreed to reimburse about 50% of the repair costs. However, I believe that this problem is a safety issue and/or a significant product defect that should be subject to recall.

Complaint received via E-mail. We purchased a new 2000, Buick, Lesabre. Before the warranty was up two power motor windows failed. We could not operate the windows in any manner. Currently, we have had two more window failures, and the cost to replace them was almost $400 per window. Because we could not get a response from General Motors we did not get the windows fixed. We could not operate them up or down. This was certainly a safety hazard because in an emergency the windows could not be opened.three members of our immediate family experienced the same problem with late model GM vehicles, such as, Grand Am/Grand Prix, and a Cadillac, Deville. We were told by our local rapco automobile mechanics that this was a common problem with General Motors vehicles. General Motors refused to acknowledge the problem, and we wanted to file a complaint.

On three occasions in three different door locations (driver, front passenger, rt. Rear passenger), window regulator failed in the down position. The car could not be parked in an unsecure location or driven in inclement weather. On first occasion, regulator was repaired at my expense. On second and third failure, dealer agreed to supply part at no cost but charged for labor. Dealer would not allow me to keep part.

We have a 2000 Buick Lesabre and a 2001 Buick Lesabre and with both of them we have had to replace several window regulators. They simply stopped working and the windows were stuck in the down position. We had to purchase new regulators and replace them. We have had several other cars in the past and have never experienced this problem with any other brands, makes or models.

Since I bought the Buick Lesabre in 2002 all 4 windows have had defective motors in them. I feel this is a manufactures defect and they should reimburse me for all the time and money it has cost me to have these windows fixed. They have all failed with in a years time during the summer months. I have had to take the vehicle in on 4 separate occasions because they would not fix the motor unless they actually saw it when the motor was stuck and not working. I live over 50 miles away from the dealer and I had to rush over there so they could see the windows when they wouldnT operate. I had 3 of the 4 window motors replaced but they refused to fix the last window because it wasnT sticking at the time I brought it in. Now the 4th window is broken and it will not go up or down yet my warranty has run out. I paid $100 every time they took my vehicle in for repair. I had to get a rental vehicle each time I took it in because it took them over 24 hours to replace the motor in the window. I feel this is a defect from the manufacture and I have heard that my Buick is not the only one with those same problems. I feel I should be reimbursed for the money I have had to spend to fix the windows and they should fix my 4th window because the warranty ran out. I did complain and told the dealer ship to note that I said all 4 windows were defective but I havenT been reimbursed yet, and they refuse to fix my 4th window under the warranty because it was not showing signs of the defect at the time.

Faulty plastic assembly in all door window regulators causing windows to drop, or unable to raise them, also faulty assembly of electric motors in doors causes brushes to burn up by arcing. Carsurvey.com has thousands of complaints listed of Buick Lesabre windows failing from 3,000 miles up or one year up, cost to repair average $400 each. Distraction caused when window falls down could cause a crash or collision.

Car has less than 21,000 miles and the right rear window regulator failed with the window in the down position. GM wants $300 for the part. After reading all the complaints regarding this same problem, why doesn't GM issue a rebuilding kit to repair the defect instead of having to replace the entire motor and regulator?
