I found the rear driver's window opened on my 2001 Buick lasabre and I tried to close using the electric controls - it would not close. I originally thought vandalism because I rarely use that window. I could pull the window up with my hands but it would slide down. I had no control of the window with electric controls. Called my dealer noecker Buick-Pontiac Inc who told me to fix the window the regulator (GM#15231245) needed to be replaced. The regulator cost me $301.80 plus tax (not including labor). I had it fixed on June 20, 2005. The mileage on my car that day was 50170 miles. Two days ago on March 21, 2006 I found the passenger's rear window opened. The window was inoperable using the electric controls. I can slide the window up using my hands and duct tape it shut until I get the window repaired. The mileage on my car today is 57350 miles. My frustration is both rear windows are rarely used and both needed the regulator repaired. I just call noecher again and they are unaware of any recalls or "special" instruction from Buick to help us owners in this situation. Again, the person on the phone said most likely it would be the regulator but will not know for sure until they inspect the window. I anticipate another $439.99 bill coming (including parts, labor and taxes). I searched the internet including the NHTSA.dot.gov website and notice this window/regulator problem is common. I feel Buick should compensate the owners of 2001 Buick lasabre for the faulty regulators.

Within a period of one month I had three window failures cause by a plastic part breaking leaving the windows in a down position and unable to raise them. It appears this is a very common problem and requires replacing the entire assembly at approximately $500 a window. The part should not be plastic and/ or should be sold as a separate piece not requiring the entire assembly.

Buick Lesabre 2001. Power control for windows and doors. Defect in the power control for windows. Cannot get windows to go back up on right and left rear windows. Was repaired 1 time in 2002 by dealership weisner Buick. The problem was not corrected because it started doing it again. The car is out of warrenty now and I feel this is a defect that was with the car when purchased. There is something electronically wrong with the power window control and I do not feel that I should have to bear the expense of this. This is definately a defect in the car.

Earlier today I reported problem with both my 2001 Buick Lesabre rear windows malfunctioning when regulators failed causing windows to drop open and stay that way. This is a very common problem and 21 or 29 owners of 2000-2001 Lesabre in one online survey reported one or more windows dropping open. This is a child safety hazard, as the driver may be unaware that the rear window has dropped and a child may fall out.

All four window regulators failed, and when the two rear regulators failed the windows dropped into open position and could not be raised. This exposed the passengers to public safety risks and the elements and at speed could distract a driver and cause an accident. At www.carsurvey.org, 21 out of 29 owners of 2000 & 2001 Buick Lesabre reported experiencing this problem with at least one and usually several windows!

2001 Buick Lesabre experiencing problems with the power windows. Shortly after the 36-month warranty expired the rear power window would go down and not go back up. Buick agreed to fix it free one time. They would not reimburse for the first window failure, which is very unfair as the window elevator mechanism clearly must have a design or manufacture defect.

LeSabre 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission

The window regulator broke while attempting to roll the rear right window down. The regulator broke because the plastic spool that the steel cable goes around wears after a period of time. This could be avoided if the spool was made of metal. The consumer stated that the power window regulator on his vehicle was improperly designed causing early failure.

Within a one week period, both of the power windows collapsed on my mother '01 Buick Lesabre. I had to manually pull up the glass and tape it in the "up" position. Even so, the interior became very wet when it rained a couple of days later. Two of my friends also own Buick, albeit century's, and they have also had the rear windows fall down within the past few months. At a cost of $500 per window to repair!

While driving, a loud banging noise was heard coming from the passenger's side tire. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and the mechanic determined the driver and passenger side tie rods needed to be replaced due to worn out parts. The left front window was inoperative due to the regulator shorting out and there was a rattle in the dash on the passenger side due to the right and left outer tie rods being loose.
