Regal

  • 24,000 miles
I own a 2001 Buick Regal that I bought new, it has 27,000 original miles. Two years ago when I engaged the cruise control and the car accelerated on its own. Now whenever the cruise control is engaged sometimes it works at first and then later it may start accelerate until you hit the brakes to disengage it.

Cruise control only works intermittently and sometimes operates normally for a period of time then accelerates very rapidly unexpectedly. I have not returned to a dealer yet but thought the incidents important to report.

Regal 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,300 miles
While on the interstate I had my cruise control set on 70 mph and all of a sudden my car jumped to 90 mph before I realized it. I hit the brakes to disengage it. It did this 3 or 4 times and the last time I nearly rear ended a car so I just quit using it. Also when I would use my signal for a right lane change it would kill the cruise and I would have to hit the gas real quick to get in the other lane.
