2005 Cadillac Cts. Consumer writes in regards to brake system repair issues. The consumer stated the brake failed and essentially she lost control of the vehicle, hit a guardrail and another vehicle after bouncing off the guardrail. Prior to the accident, work was performed on the ABS dash light, several times.

The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that both front brake hose assemblies needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10V105000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 140,000.

I was driving to work this morning and I lost complete brake pressure in my 2005 Cadillac Cts. I was able to stop just before I rear ended the car in front of me by continuing to push down hard on the brake pedal. I tried to pump the brakes and the pressure would not come back. I immediately took my car to the local Firestone who told me that the brake lines had corroded and needed to be replaced by the dealership. I took my car to the local Cadillac dealership who will be replacing all the brake lines in my car because they are all corroded. At least 2 of the brake lines are so corroded that they are leaking.

The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Cts which was purchased in 2004. He heard a slight grinding noise coming from the vehicle for eight months. The dealer could not duplicate the problem. On a separate occasion, he heard a grinding noise coming from the braking system. Upon further investigation he found the rotors had ground into the brakes and pads which caused severe damage. The manufacturer stated there was nothing they could do to assist him. The failure mileage was 24,000 and the current mileage was 34,000.
