Vehicle's hazard warning switch was malfunctioning. The hazard malfunction caused the turn signal and brake lights to malfunction. The consumer is aware of a recall on the Pontiac Grand Am 2001 for the hazard switch and would like to know if there is a recall on the Astro. There was no warning of the failure.

Our 2001 Astro van [xxx] had an electrical problem. While waiting for a tow truck, with a transmission problem the hazard switch stopped working after 5 minutes of use. We were stuck at night on a country road and the hazard switch malfunctioned. The dealer said the multi function switch needed to be replaced. The van had 40,156 miles on it and G.M. would not cover the cost of replacement! $501.17 later I am very unhappy. How often does one use this switch" it was somewhat dangerous being on a country road at night without working hazard lights. 4,156 miles beyond warranty and G.M. tells me they will not pay for this defective switch. I understand that there was a safety recall for this same switch which is used on the 2000-2001 Blazer, jimmy, and bravado, why not the Astro/safari. G.M. knows this is the same part. Are they that willing to put people in danger just because the number of Astro/safai vans on the road is low" information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Exterior lights... brake lights... hazard lights... turn signal lights... tail lights. There is a problem with the hazard light switch assembly which causes an intermittent failure of the above lights to function properly. This a very similar problem to the one addressed in the NHTSA recall # 01V364000 which includes other GM products such as the Blazer and bravado, which evidently use the same part as the Astro. Why was the Astro van not a part of this recall?

2001 Chevrolet Astro van. VIN [xxx] had to pay $420+ today to fix a GM known safety problem. I was told my car was not covered. They told me I had no other complaint option. Stop lamps/hazard lamps inoperative2000-2001 Chevrolet Blazer and trailblazer (classic); GMC jimmy and Envoy(classic); and Oldsmobile Bravada (classic) summary: Vehicle description: Sport utility vehicles. The multifunction switch could develop an open circuit condition that results in the stop lamps and the rear hazard lamps becoming inoperative. The center high mounted stop lamp and turn signal functions are not affected. Consequence: The loss of stop lamps and rear hazard lamps could fail to warn a following driver that the vehicle is braking and/or is stopped and could result in a crash. This is the same problem as NHTSA #01V364000 or NHTSA recall no. 01V364/GM GM/Chevy uses the same steering yoke for the Astro/safari vans. They did not include the vans in their the referenced safety recall. They only included the 2000-01 Chevrolet Blazer, GMC jimmy, and Oldsmobile Bravada. Why not the Astro/safari. They know this is the same part/failure? the GM campaign number I found was 01073 and 01073A. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
