Avalanche Z71 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

The filler neck/tank doesnt vent properly and it kicks the pump off like every 10-15 seconds or so. Very annoying especially when filling all the way up, takes 5x as long as it should. Have read about this problem on many pages and forums and its very common. Going to try to change the EVAP vent solenoid and see if that helps.

Avalanche 5.3 V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 155,000 miles

I have a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500, I always have a problem filling up the tank. I have to stay there for more than 30 min. for me to fill up the tank. But, when I fill it up every time it stops less than 3 gallons. I have to fill in the tank slowly. This is a waste of time. Do you have a solution?

Thank you.

Just a pain. Especially in freezing cold or wet weather. You have to stand and restart the gas nozzle to pump over and over as it clicks off every gallon or two! Occasionally, I go to a station where it gets going and pumps until my tank is filled. That's always exciting!

while you are fueling the vehicle, it doesn't seem to be venting properly and the gas nozzle keeps clicking off, as if the gas tank is full
