The engine shuts off without notice at random. When this happens on the freeway, it is rather un-nerving, as I must get to the shoulder to stop. Once turned off for ten seconds, the engine restarts as if nothing happened... until the next time. Firestone charged me to replace the alternator with no improvement. It has sence been to the tom jumper Chevrolet dealership three times. They keep replacing small parts, but have yet to identify the problem. Each time they keep the truck one to two weeks, but the problem returns. I'm afraid to drive it in its present condition, but have to drive to work. I feel like they will not correct the problem until someone gets hurt as a result of this failure. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

When coming to a stop, vehicle idle speed surges to 1200 RPM, instead of its usual 700 RPM, causing car to move forward into car ahead. This is intermitant, @ only occurs when car is in gear. Problem is handled by shifting to neutral when preparing to stop..

While driving vehicle at any rate of speed vehicle begins to lose power and eventually stalls. Consumer stated also stalled when idling, when restarted, starts right up and engine revs up to 1500-2000 RPM, then goes back down to idle at 600 RPM, when driving on highway, sometimes vehicle looses all power in gas pedal, if the gas pedal is stepped on there is a loud popping noise that can be heard.
