Blazer LS 4.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,246 miles

Car lost power. No indicators went off except for red check engine light but no time to do anything. Had to coast off highway. Towed to my mechanic and they said it lost all compression, overheated and was burnt out. It would cost $4,700 for new engine. Complained to GM they said to take it to GM dealer, after $533 they said the same thing; but the INTAKE MANIFOLDS GASKETS WERE LEAKING DEXCOOL! There was a slight build up of rust/calcium in rear cylinder passages. GM dealer mechanic said he never knew of any problems with Dexcool coolant and Chevy cars. I told him if he'd "Google" it on the internet he'd find plenty. Still in middle of working on problem with GM since it is out of warranty.

Loss of power especially on going uphill. I have taken the car to the dealership I bought it from. I hoped their technician would be able to pinpoint the problem using the diagnostic computer program they had. This should be easy if they know how to interpret the response since the warning light comes on to tell me to service my engine soon. Well I guess they had no idea how to fix it.
