Camaro

  • 68,000 miles
Vehicle has had a code of P008 intermittently then permanently since 68000 miles, it is now at 99,500 miles. The code relates to timing chain stretching which is causing engine misfire. Same problem with identical engine has been addressed in form of warranty extension for several vehicles, including Cadillac cts, extending warranty to 10 years or 120K miles. This has not been done for the Camaro for reasons which elude me. Occasional problems with stalling and reduced power (especially in situations requiring the additional power), as well as engine "roughness" certainly cause safety concerns for me. In addition, the problem with the passenger safety bag seat pad sensor has been ongoing and is also not recalled, although the system keeps passenger airbag off in the presence of a passenger due to a short in the pad, also well-documented and clearly a safety hazard. The interior lighting system is simply a nuisance and not a safety concern at this time. The cost of repairs is staggering, and I've never seen an instance where a timing chain needed to be replaced during the expected operating period of a vehicle with normal use. Clearly it is a design flaw which needs to be addressed, as it has been with other vehicles utilizing this engine. The number of instances which go unreported and simply get repaired at the owner's expense is also quite significant, according to the research I have done. Please note that this problem started intermittently in late 2016 and has become a continual problem as of this writing. The check engine light is always on at this point, with the P008 code.

Went to get an oil change last week. After the oil change, my "service air bag" light is on. Talked with the mechanic and he showed me everything he had touched on my vehicle. Took my car to the Chevy dealership in aberdeen md and they said that an oil change would not interfere with the airbag sensor. One of the service guys told me it is normally a wire that needs to be changed. They scheduled me for an appointment for Monday but after doing research I decided to hold off. I do not think I should be fixing a safety issue, plus I am seeing this common in these cars. What are Chevy's plans to fix? I have been driving my 11 year old son around in a car that could potentially be a death trap for him.

Camaro

  • 21,000 miles
Passenger side service air bag light turns on anytime I place something on the passenger seat or when someone sits down. This is a manufacturers defect in the airbag or airbag sensor and has been a problem since I first purchased the vehicle. I am concerned that if I have an accident the airbags will not deploy properly.

Camaro

  • 40,970 miles
My vehicle has 40,970 miles on it and the passenger side air bag sensor failed and it needed to be replaced. I would be able to understand the driver side air bay sensor failing with 40,000 miles on it, but not the passenger side air bag sensor which has less miles on it. My mechanic told me that this has been a problem that Chevy is aware of and that they have not made any changes to the replacement air bag sensors to correct this defect. The sensor costs over $400 to replace.

Camaro

  • 86,000 miles
The air bag light and alarm came on and off in the passenger seat when some one is sitting in it, and the service air bag light is on all the time, so apparently the passenger air bag is not on or will not deploy in case of an accident, so apparently the sensor in the seat is not working and in doing some research on this problem I have found this to be a major complaint for this model Camaro and I hear it is very expensive to fix if its fixable at all

I had a air bag service, light come on for the passenger side seat, after I picked my son up, he sat down put on his seat belt, then I got the service air bag on my dash, and the light over the rear view mirror went from on to off, and stayed off. I called onstar to do a diagnostic test, and they said yes their showing a tsb code of boo81, and after doing some online research, I fined that this an on going issue. I have contacted GM customer service, they told me to contact my Chevy dealer, to have a diagnostic test done, then contact GM again, to see if their going to cover this, but GM customer service rep said my car isn't under warranty, I let them no it's not a matter of warranty, it's a matter of safety and shouldn't matter if it's a warranty issue, something is defective, and GM should fix this as a defective part or parts related to the airbag system, I plan on bring it to the dealer Wednesday 21 June for the diagnostic test. Which will cost about $150 dollars, just to fined what part of the airbag sys is defective, GM should fix this, for it is a matter of safety not warranty related issue. Camaro

  • 54,000 miles
The "service airbag" warning indicator turns on and off randomly. Sometimes it stays on for days/ weeks, sometimes it turns of for a few minutes. My vehicle only has about 64K miles on it, and it started happening at about 50K. I have yet had it repaired as I can not afford to pay al;most $1500 to $1900 to repair this. I am aware of a class action against GM for this issue, and I hope the plaintiffs win and the settlement causes GM to have to recall all of the vehicles affected by this to repair the issue at no cost to the owners, regardless of years and milage owned, whether or not they were the original ownerner or not.

Camaro

  • 60,000 miles
Around 60,000 miles the "check air bag" light came on. The passenger seat air bag comes on and goes off during travel. If I was to have an accident while the bag happens to have turned itself off, I'm afraid a much greater injury will occur. Dealer says its not under warranty and will cost around $1,000 to replace the computer board in passenger seat. I believe this affects other Chevrolet models as well. Chevrolet should recall the circuit board before their customers are injured or killed.

Check airbag light is on. Chevrolet dealer service department inspected and found codes B0081-00 & B0074-00, noting that the passenger presence pad shorted out and that pad controls the passenger side air bag. They recommend to remove and replace passenger presence pad (part #20972507). We have extended warranty but they are stating anything safety system related is not covered and should be under a manufacturer recall.

I have three issues for my Camaro 2010. First and most important is the the timing chain, the chain moved and activated the cam sensors. The cost to change it is princely. Second, the air bag light on the passenger is on. Took it to the dealer and paid and still they couldn't find the issue so they wanted more money. Third, three of the tire sensors when on and dealer wants more money. The car runs with poor performance so I stop using it.
