Camaro LT2 RS 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Bought the 2012 Camaro V6 with 60k miles. 3 months into having the car the engine started knocking and then just stopped. You crank it up again and it has this AWFUL noise like something is being rubbed and it's knocking. Engine had to be replace out of my pocket $2500.00. Dealer didn't want anything to do with it.

So..It's a normal day, drove my car as normal to my moms house to visit, got ready to leave her house and got maybe 200ft from her house and a stabilitrack light comes on and my car shuts completely off. No warning lights or anything! This is the first time I've ever seen this stabilitrack light, so I tried to restart and all I got was click, click.

We took the starter off and bought a new one (still nothing), replaced alternator (still nothing), and brand new battery (money wasted, still didn't start).. call the dealership and get it towed there, only to be told my engine is locked up! (wait what?) So when I asked how could this happen as I take very good care of my car, oil change and maintenance always on time, they advise me that they would have to break down the motor to find the problem. So then the dealership quotes me a price of 7k for a new motor or $5,500 for a used motor!!!!!

I shouldn't have to pay for a motor! Tell me what the hell happened to my car! How could a motor lock up with no warning signs and just shut the car off completely???? Glad I wasn't on the highway in heavy traffic, THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!

Camaro LS 2 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,778 miles

My car had been making a strange sound the day before. It sounded like some kind of hiss. so i parked it for the night. the next morning i started it up no problems there. that same morning about 5 minutes later i started to get on the freeway and my car started to shake very bad like a slipping gears in a manual. I tried to push the on gas to get out of the way of on coming traffic and a semi truck almost ran me over along with 5 other cars almost rear ending me . i had just enough power to pull off to the emergency lane. as i was doing this noticed my engine light was blinking.so when i came to complete stop. i put it in park and then i turned the motor off. waited 10 minutes before trying start the car aging. It started up fine and there was no blinking engine light anymore. I turned around went to the dealer ship right away so this would be the second time I brought it in for same thing. the dealer ship told me once aging everything was fine. well now they have had my car 3 days now and they did evan call me, i had to call them and asked them what was going on with my car they said everything was fine and could not get it to do what it did to me on the freeway. Im going to pick it up maybe tomorrow. It dose not sound like they are gonna fix it because they do not know how to fix it so i get stuck with a safety issue.

GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY BEFORE SOME GETS KILLED IN ACCIDENT I ALMOST DID !!!!

Update from Feb 7, 2013: the car has been at the dealrship for three weeks now and Im about to get a full refund . Dont buy this car its junk CHEVY CARS SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOMEONE NEEDS TO OPEN A SAFETY INVESTIGATION ON CHEVY CAMARO
