I blew out the rear main seal on the way to work. I took it to a trusted mechanic and he says 7 hours to fix. No clue what this will cost. Majority of my miles are highway miles.

"GM issued a TSB to address the same issue this year for the Chevy Captiva-, see https://www.gotaclassaction.com/general-motors-named-in-class-action-lawsuit-over-defect-in-2010-2017-chevrolet-equinox-vehicles-which-leads-to-excess-oil-consumption/ The PCB valve gets clogged due to cold temps and then the rear main seal blows out and a massive oil leak occurs. This happened to my Daughter's new Captiva (2014) one week after the TSB was issued on the record beating coldest day of the year on Jan. 30th 2019 in Detroit , MI . I spent $2640 TO REPAIR IT. My repair man said this is the same issue as the Equinox. We need a lawsuit on this as well. I went to my local repair shop in April he told me he had at least 4 people in with repairs to their Captivas this year . I think there is a case here. Daniel Faoro, Plymouth,Michigan"

Update from Jul 22, 2019: GM offered me a $2,000 discount if I purchased a new car as a solution. They said my issue did not warrent renumeration.

On my way to work the cars low oil pressure light came on saying stop engine now. As soon as I pulled over the engine stopped. Had it towed to shop and was told that the crankshaft main seal was leaking and all the oil was drained out. The engine needed to be replaced, I still owe 7000 on the car. Had towed to Chevy dealer and say it's not a manufactured defect, I have had my oil changed at the same place since after the free oil changes at the dealer. But they still say after proving I had regular oil changes there is nothing they can do. Now I have no car and stuck with paying a car note and having to shell out 5 grand.
