Cobalt LS 2.2L Ecotec

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,000 miles

When the AC unit is turned on, there is a very noticeable ticking noise when levels 1 or 2 are used. I believe bumping it up to setting 3 or 4 will cause this noise to go away.

Cobalt LS 2.2L V4

I got to turn the setting on for heat/a/c and the knob doesn't work correctly it only goes 1-3 if i pull it out and turn it it will allow me to go to setting 4 when i do have it on it makes a whining noise on 1-2 setting and then once hit 3-4 it goes away it wasn't that bad when i 1st noticed it now its so loud that i have problems hearing people that sit in the back seat talking, i have not taken it in to the dealership because my car is out of warranty and i think this needs to be a recall i know over 5 people that have the same car and is having the same problem this car has so many problems its not funny, whoever its now paid off and i am broke and cant afford to get a knew one or fix the problems it has so i will live with it for now. I always laughed at family and friends for buying any other manufactured car then a Chevy and now they are laughing at me because i have (had) a brand new car and its got more problems then there 1997 Ford or there brand new 2006 Ford Taurus. This is crap and i think Chevy needs to fix the problems for free since there is so many people having the problem i think if there is more then 5 people have the same problem with the same vehicle i think it should be the manufacturers problem to fix it at there cost not ours.

You have to hear the motor spinning around under the dash sounds like it could blow at any moment, rented a cobalt while my Malibu was in the shop and it had the same noise in its heater motor too!!

I have had the same problems with the AC Heater making the chirping sound at levels 1 and 2. It stops on the 3rd and 4th levels. I thought it was normal but from what you guys are saying maybe I should take it in to replace the blower motor. How much did cost? I am out of warranty and if it cost too much I might let it go for now. It works it blows heat and air but I do notice hesitation or the fan going low to high but then stays constant again thought it was normal. It shouldn't do it since most of my GM and Ford cars never did. Any thoughts on this?

I have had the same problem with the heater as other's have mentioned on this site. On 1st or 2nd setting, I would hear this "chirping" noise, kind of like a cricket in my car. I would turn it up or off and it would quit. I took it to the dealer I bought it from, and they replaced the blower motor, and that has fixed the problem. I haven't heard it since they did that.

i have started hearing a high pitched noise coming from the heat and ac vents. this noise has continued to get worse every time i am in the car. i haven't had it checked yet , but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. as it turns out i see a lot of people are having the same problem. i think this needs to be a recall. something is wrong with the motors of the ac and heat fans.

Everywhere I go I here a lovely sound like a high pitched squeal coming form my vents in my car as I have been told that is a covered repair but I don't have the time to take my car in to the dealership again for the AC problem. I had it in Twice because water was leaking out of my vents and then when they "FIXED" it I had to take it back the next day because my air did not work at all.... The dealerships need to work on the quality of work being done on the cars and try to make it hassle free for us. These are practically new cars they should have little to no problems!

Every time I have on the AC or the heater it lets out a high pitch squeal. I know of 3 other people that have had the same problem and everyone is trying to say it's suppose to make that sound. BULL!!! I have checked into the lemon law and it does apply so I will be forwarding this on and hopefully someone will get it right. It should not be making any sounds when its on. This is crap!!!
