problem #2

Cobalt LS 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

My Cobalt will idle rough and even stall when sitting at a red light. I cannot run the A/C at all. I have replaced the Throttle body unit, MAF, changed spark plugs and oil change. Nothing has helped.

problem #1

Cobalt 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,000 miles

Check engine light came on during road trip, got read at local auto parts store. Missfire cylinder 2. Changed spark plugs, switched ignition coils, then switched injectors in an attempt to trouble shoot, each time getting computer codes reset. Began checking forums, seems like a common problem, but no real fix. Check engine light still comes on, week of driving goes by, car starts to shake at idle and shift hard between 1st and 2nd gear. Took to mechanic, says cylinder has low compression, either piston rings bad or valves not sealing. Mechanic did some research and found that a common problem with heads of the engine is that they crack and bend valves. So for $3000 he can fix it, but no guarantee it won't happen again. Hard shifts due to computer adjusting idle to compensate for no compression, affecting timing of transmission.

Selling this POS due to all complaints. I have at least 4.
