I noticed a strong gas odor. When I looked under the car, it was dripping gasoline onto the muffler heat shield and onto the pavement. I looked on the NHTSA website and see that certain Chevy Cobalts are under recall for a problem with the fuel pump cracking and leaking. My car is experiencing the same problem as the ones under recall, the fuel pump cracked causing the leak. When I contacted General Motors, I was told sorry your VIN # is not under recall. I am not happy that my car has the same problem as the recalled cars but I am stuck paying the bill for a new fuel pump. This vehicle should be recalled along with the rest.

Car was smelling badly of gas took car to akers auto service in milford Ohio tel 513-831-6702 they told me I had a leaking fuel pump and that there was a special recall out on them, I contacted GM recall division they sent me to the claims dept. They gave me a GM special policy number [xxx]. I was to go to a Chevy dealer to get a claim form, I went to jeff wyler 1117 St 32 batavia. Ohio 45103 tel 513-752 1238 I paid akers on July 23 for the repairs, when I went to wylers they said they had to send in the claim form but they first had to prove I had a GM pump put in, it was the end of Sept before the assistant service manager returned my call, [xxx] said he could not reach anyone at akers, few days later bob told me the clam form had been sent in and I should see it back in 4 5 or 6 weeks, should have been middle. Of November, took until middle of December for bob to return call, said lost my number, I had left message once a week with my name and number, end of December. The service manager call my girlfriend her number was on the invoice and told her the claim had not been turned in they had lost the paperwork, I had to fax copy to rodney grey 513-260-4924, January rodney called my girl friend told her he had a check but we could not have it because the recall was over on July 14-2014 and we had the repairs after that. I contacted GM 1-866-790-5700 ext [xxx] name [xxx] she told me they would look into it, didn't, know why dealer was doing this, end result general manager [xxx], could not get his last name turned down claim I was told because rodney said he did not get copy of invoice until Dec 31, was given run around for 6 months, receive notice on power steering pump and key switch but none on leaking fuel pump information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My Chevrolet Cobalt 2007 was called for a recall, even though my car was running perfectly I decided to take it to the closest Chevrolet dealership to me. At the dealership they changed the power steering wheel, the ignition and all that had to do with it, and to my surprise they also changed the fuel pump. When I received my car from the dealer I noticed a fuel odor coming from my car, I did not pay attention to it because I thought it was normal since they changed the fuel pump. After a couple of days I took my car back since I noticed a big gas leak on the driveway when I moved my car. The dealership checked the car and said it had nothing to do with the recall and that the filler neck was cracked, and that I might have possibly hit my car and cracked the filler neck. I was very frustrated and I talked to managers and everything, but the only response I got was that they will not cover it and that I will have to pay for it. After calling General Motors and Chevrolet, they told me that I had to pay $500 dollars for the repair and that they will cover the rest. I was very upset and frustrated, but I am a college student and I work, so I needed my car. I paid the $500 dollars out of credit cards because I did not have the money for a mistake that they made and people at the dealership even told me they did because they said that the filler neck is plastic and that with the weather changes in houston when "handled" can crack easily. I thought it was a total fraud and I want my $500 dollars back and also the fee they charged to check it which was almost $85 dollars.

Fuel line located approximately in the middle of the vehicle is leaking and appears to be rusted out. This fuel line runs parallel to the exhaust system and with fuel leaking is a potential fire/explosion hazard. Local dealer telsl me it will cost somewhere between $700 to $1,000 to repair. My online research indicates this is a common problem with these vehicles and I believe the potential for fire should be of immediate concern.

I was driving in town and suddenly lost all power. I had to use the momentum of the car to move over 2 lanes of traffic in order to get pulled to the side of the road. Had it towed to the mechanic and found out that both the fuel pump and the electrical panel under my fuse box had gone out. This cost me over $1800 to have fixed and the mechanic states GM was aware of the fuse box issue and to watch for a recall. Also the fuel pump was a specialty that was not placed in most cars of this year/model and had to be ordered from the factory. The problems that are happening with these cars are ridiculous. GM should have to pay the owners to have the entire car replaced.

Vehicle leaks gasoline. A lot of it. Took the car to the dealer and had the fuel pump module replaced (supposedly) as part of a recall. Took the car in a second time because it was leaking a significant amount of gasoline, particularly after putting gas in the gar. According to the dealer, it is a crack in the gas tank, and the problem is not the fuel pump module. The gas tank crack could very well be related to the recalled faulty fuel pump. The dealer might be using the gas tank to explain away the fuel pump issue. They have kept my car for a couple days now and want to charge me a diagnostic fee for telling me that it is an issue not related to the recall. This is very dangerous. The leaking fuel is enough to set the car on fire. The dealer could be exploiting customers (for profit) that come in for the fuel pump recall, although I haven't observed any clear evidence of this.

Fuel leak at fuel pump module - see below my E-mail to GM, dealer is holding my car until payment. I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt with the fuel leak coming from the top of the tank, running down to the bottom of the tank - I can smell gas when exiting or walking past the car - VIN # [xxx]... today at 4:56 pm. I haven't gotten a reply on my inquire. I spoke to a GM customer service and they told me to take the car to Chevy dealer and if it is the fuel pump module that is leaking, they would talk to the dealer. I received a call from the dealer that I need to pay $250 for the car - why? and I never gave them authorization to repair and I will make payment. The dealer is holding my car for payment. I need my care, currently I am using a rental car, which I intend to put in a claim to GM. Please advice. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Noticed smell of leaking fuel. Checked recall site for Chevrolet and called Chevrolet recall telephone number but was told it was not under recall but under "special warranty". took to dealer and was told that fuel pump was under "special warranty" but the tank was also leaking and this was not covered under the warranty. This is a safety issue that I strongly feel that not only should the fuel pump be covered, but also the tank itself.

Gmac issued recall of 07 Cobalts as well as other model years regarding fuel pump. I had the same issue with my vehicle, but was told that since it wasn't registered in the few states involved, I could not be reimbursed. I believe this recall should be expanded. My car was in Florida, for a while. I have relatives there, but since it's not registered there, supposedly my issue wasn't their responsibility.

My 2007 Cobalt started to smell like fuel the past few months at first outside then strong on inside. My father looked under the car, and noticed around where the fuel pump is located fuel was spilling over and was also in the tray under gas tank. We called a dealer and he said that their is a recall, but our state Indiana was not included. How can this be, this is a fire hazard, and possible death trap. If you acknowledge a defect it should be every where. Indian has had extremely hot weather over the last several years.
