ECM problem. Lost steering and all dashboard information. Vechile does not start.dealer tells me it is a bad ECM and it is $841 to repair it. Including a $250 chargere to diagnose the problem than I find out there was a huge recall on these ecms but for some reason mine was not included. My daughter was driving on the highway in los angeles when her power steering locked up. She barely made it over to safety. It could have been a catastrophe on the highway. It took all of her strength to try to move the wheel. She lost control over the car. When she tried to start the car up again, it seemed fine. She got off the highway and drove carefully. She would drive about 10 minutes at a time before it would lock up again. She had to drive through some really shady areas to get home since she couldn't drive on the highway. She took her car to a Chevrolet dealer who said that there was no recall on the 2009 Cobalts. There are on the 2010 for power steering. They charged her $139 just to diagnose what the problem is. She is waiting to see what is wrong. When she said that she had to have her car for work tomorrow, they were adamant that her car was too dangerous to drive because of the steering. This is such a dangerous hazard.
