If you go to the passenger side up under the dash and move the wires going to the heater motor it will come on and run.

Colorado LS 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission

2006 was the first time that this problem had occurred, and since then we have replaced it like five different times we still own the truck. It works on high it works on low and now it only works on 1,2, 3. But it still doesn't work the way it should. I really like the truck but they should fix this problem for you it was their fault because it is a defect in the part. And we can't afford to buy a new part every time this decides to brake down. And if it is cold outside it would be nice to be warm while driving down the road with your family in the truck. Instead on being cold as it is outside.

I have replaced the resister 4+ times and eventually just gave up. It eats resistors for breakfast, so you get all heat or a/c or nothing.

Blower stopped working for third time since truck was new. First two times, replacing the resistor fixed it. This time, mechanic replaced resistor, it did not fix, blower still worked intermittently. Then Mechanic replaced control head. Did not fix. Mechanic punted. I brought to dealership. Replaced blower motor fixed problem. This is an obvious problem GM should accept and address.

Colorado L71 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,100 miles

The wire under the passenger side dash panel dazzled smoke, check and burn a little. Just purchase from private person. Going to dealership to have it looked at with other electrical problems I'll be listing. I can not believe Chev has not called recalls on these trucks for all their electriacal problems. windows, locks on doors, heating fan, etc......... little did my son know for his first vehicle, I'm going to harp the dealership to fix this right if I'm paying believe me.

this problem is NOT CONSTANT when I brought it to a dealer which is no longer a dealer, they tested it and said nothing was wrong, or that they could not find anything wrong, heater fan will work on HIGH SPEED ONLY all the time and the other speeds are intermittent

Colorado LS 2.8L I-4

  • Manual transmission
  • 70,500 miles

Once again the only fan speed working on my truck is hi speed. Once again the blower resistor has burned out again. So I replace it again for the second time now. At this point I'm beginning to wonder if I will have to change this thing out as often as I change my oil. Because it only lasts for a few thousand miles.

Colorado LS 2.8L I-4

  • Manual transmission
  • 45,200 miles

One day I was driving to work on a cold morning and suddenly my defrost stopped working. I turned it off and then back on to see if it would start up again and in the process I noticed that it only worked with my fan speed set on 4 (highest setting). At first I tried to get use to it, if I needed it on I would turn it up to hi (it sounded like a windstorm in there all the time) and when it got too warm I would turn it off just by selecting the 3rd speed. On and off all the time! Finally, I spoke with a friendly mechanic and decided I would try and get to the root of the problem and try and fix it myself if possible. He told me about the blower resistor and told how it worked. ASAP I went to the dealership and forked over the money for a new one. It was simple to replace and when I pulled out my old resistor you could clearly see that it was burned up. But it still didn't work after installing the new one. So quickly I spoke to the mechanic again and he thought that the 7 wire connector may also be burned up. So I replaced it too, and it was a bit more of a pain to replace. After that it worked like new, but only for a while, unfortunately.

Colorado LS 2.8L I-4

  • Manual transmission
  • 80,000 miles

For the third time now, my blower resistor has gone out again! So far I have not replaced it yet. I have been trying to find out if there is a bigger problem to all this. I have spoken with the dealership numerous times about it and the only thing they can tell is that it is common on my truck and that there is no solution. So, am I going have to continuously change out my blower resistor constantly and pay for it each and everytime? It sure looks that way. For now, I will try and find another way to fix this, if it is possible. For a little while until a get fed up with it, I guess I will just tough it out for now and try to get by with two fan speeds; high or nothing!

What really makes this a pain is that it only works on high speed in the Summer months. But check this out during the Winter months it will usually work on all speeds.
