The Chevy Colorado extended cab model has a history of the wire breaking in the same location causing the air bag (SRS) light to remain on. I believe this manufacturing defect may not activate the SRS in the event of a side impact. The wire in question is located inside a rubber boot between the rear doors and the main cab body. It seems if you use the rear doors it will develop a broken wire.
