Colorado LS 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

Crank, no start. Happens whenever it wants to. Flashing vehicle security light for 8 minutes, then solid. Remove key, reinsert, engine starts. Suspect bad mercury switch in security system, but no one knows how to bypass it. I thought Chevy would want to keep customers, but I guess a solution for "older" vehicles doesn't make any money. Chevy, you have probably lost a customer.

Colorado LS 3.5L V5

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

The truck wouldn't start. It sounded like it wanted to crank but to no avail. After sitting for ten minutes making rescue phone calls to family/ friends. Finally another attempt was made to crank the truck and it started.

This issue has become a normal everyday occurrence now for three years. I've bought a new battery..had a diagnostic check but to no avail..I can be stranded at any time regardless of weather or geographical area.

I'm a disabled female with no vehicle knowledge and have a service dog..this issue needs resolved..I'm praying for a recall of some sort. Oh on the dash " idiot light indicator" notice a red light of a car with a lock on it... Once that light comes on ..if the vehicle is turned off..it won't start again right away. My female guess is electrical and sensors..

Wave as you drive by...cause I'm broke down for at least ten minutes or more...

Thanks for this opportunity to share my frustrations..

At one time they said it must be a problem with the starter because it sounds like the selonoid gat stock in the gear ,but it was not some others said it must be the fuel volume regulator that is open but the scanner dont show any problems or codes. the problem is this vehicle can let me down any time anywhere I always wait 5 or more time and it stars agean.

Colorado 3.5L 5 cyl

This is the old theft detterant system that occures when the car feels like it. With no warning, reguardless of the weather conditions, whether the vehicle was just turned off while retreaving a cup of coffee at the neighborhood quick shop or not the engine turns over but does not fire. Like it is not getting any fuel. The solution has been to turn the key off wait exactly 10 minutes and start the vehicle. 99% of the time the engine will start after the wait of 10 minutes. On one occasion I got impatient and tried to start the truck after less than the 10 minutes and then had to wait another 10 minutes from the last start. I have had the truck into the dealership (towed in by the local Ford Dealer) the GM dealer did not have tow service. paid for the tow and the diagnostic hookup to find nothing wrong. The truck started right up in the dealership. This has happened at least 20 times in the last 2 years and I've just discovered from your website that it has been happening to a lot of other Chevrolet owners from the year 2000 to about 2008 cars trucks you name it. I don't see any recall on this problem but I think there should be some high paid GM design engineer figuring out what is causing this failure. The mechanics state that until the problem becomes chronic they will not be able to diagnose the problem and find a solution. If the engineers who designed the Apollo space capsule where to wait until they could diagnose the problem on Apollo 13 the world would be three more astronauts short. OK Phd's here is the problem... Now what could possibily cause this problem. I'm looking to buy another Ford. At least they have their own tow trucks in this one horse town. Any suggestions would be comforting. end.
