Colorado Z71 3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

Pristine 2005 Z71 Colorado with frame rusted through on both sides. Just about had a serious accident when frame gave way. Driving 65 mph on expressway, car suddenly starts to slow down rapidly as if parking brake had been applied and swerves. Car behind me swerves to miss me and just about hits car in other lane as he tries to avoid me.

Took it to my mechanic the next day and as he crawled under to check parking brake cable, (quick peek) he noticed immediately my frame was broken on both sides. The brakes were just forward of springs and between where back of cabin is and beginning of bed. My mechanic could not believe it as he said he can't find any rust on my rockers, fenders, floor boards or even any exterior surfaces.

I am 71, retired, vet, married, home most of the day and washed this truck twice a week during winter and waxed it last year 11 times from September 2017 - August 2018. Hardly put any miles on this truck, maybe 5,000 miles a year in the last ten years. When I bought it in 2008 in had 60,000+ miles now it has 110,000.

I know Chevrolet will not do anything, unlike Toyota did for their rusted out frames on their trucks, replaced them( the frames ) free and gave customers rental cars until theirs were replaced!!!!!!

frame rusted out where spring hangers attach

There has got to be a recall by Chevrolet for this. This is a dangerous situation. The body, motor and drive train are in excellent condition.
