Colorado LS 3.7L 5 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 247,000 miles

2009 Chevy Colorado intermittently won't start. At the time this happens (maybe 2x a month) all electrical will work and it will start after sitting for exactly 10 minuets. Of course when I took it to dealership they need it to happen in front of them to diagnose the problem. Very frustrating.

THis POS has been doing this intermittently for the past two years due to a passive antitheft system. I've had it in two dealer service shops twice and got a shrug. I checked the internet and found that this issue has been around since 2006. GM has yet to try to solve the problem. The last service manager said we could 1) install a new switch, 2) install a new wiring harness, 3) change the fuel pump. Each costing only 500 - 700 $.

I believe this is more than an annoyance. I categorize it as dangerous and life threatening : For instance - you find yourself in a dangerous situation requiring immediate departure. If the bastard doesn't start you're done. another : you need to get to an emergency room. Forgetaboutit.

There are some homegrown recommendations on the NET, but cutting wires aren't my specialty. I'd rather eat dirt than buy another GM / Chevy.

Colorado Extended Cab V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 50,000 miles

I bought a 2009 Chevy Colorado in September 2015 off of CarGurus at First Choice Auto in Santa Ana, CA.. Around October 2015, the car all of a sudden wouldn't start. After 10 to 15 minutes after the initial try, the car will start up no problem. Nothing and I mean NOTHING will get the car to start within that time period. This has happened to me several times and I have taken it back to the dealership several times to fix the problem and they still cannot figure it out. I took it to a Chevrolet specialist TODAY and they could not find any error codes. They could only guess what the problem was. I refuse to get something fixed on a GUESS.

I tried attaching a video of what the truck is doing but for some reason it would not upload. The URL to my youtube where the video is uploaded is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSZglHTHDwo. I would appreciate any comments about this if this happens to you in your Colorado. We need to get GM's attention.

I looked to see if this is a recall, and it isn't. However, several people have complained about this same exact issue. A couple people said their truck would stall in the middle of driving, and wouldn't start for about 10 to 15 minutes.

This is a serious safety hazard!!!!!!!!!

I am really upset with GM for putting these trucks out with this defect. I have been a Chevy owner my whole life and have never had this problem. These trucks definitely need to be on recall for this issue.

Colorado LT3 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,000 miles

Bought this truck as a certified pre-owned vehicle, from Elkins chevrolet in NJ, W/21000 miles on the clock. This problem showed itself on the third day I had it. Took it to the dealer. OF COURSE! they tell me they don;t know why it happens and there are no codes. I love the truck with the exception of this 10 minute problem. It happens when you least expect it. I've noticed, If the truck sits unused for a day or 2 The problem will happen frequently for a few days. Now I see It's happening to Chevys as far back as 2003, AND I'M PISSED!

I will never buy another Chevy again, as long as I live. Last vehicle I bought as certified pre-owned (2008 trailblazer@Pelligrino Chevy in NJ). Had a tree fall on it and it was discovered that the vehicle was rear ended (pretty badly) in the past and repaired very poorly. Nothing on Carfax though. Paid $21000 for a once wrecked vehicle. Guess I should have learned my lesson the first time.

NEVER AGAIN CHEVROLET!!! You have lost a long time Chevy man. I will denounce Chevrolet to anyone who will listen, at every opportunity. Someone should be in jail for this scam! There is no way that they are unaware of this problem! TOO BIG TO FAIL obviously means, TOO BIG TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!
