Cruze ECO 1.4t

  • Manual transmission

The Chevy Cruze is definitely a lemon. I have been a mechanic for 12 years and have yet to see such a POS. I bought the car as a gas saver to commute to and from work (like everyone else). I was excited to buy a Chevy, also excited it was an economical 4cyl (my other vehicle is an F-150), but seriously... you NEED TO BE A MECHANIC to drive this car!! I may have racked on 100k miles since I bought it in 2016 but... Chevy... you have got to be kidding me...

Complaint #4

Oh this code.... Check engine light comes on.... P0420. With this car... it basically means something is about to get very expensive real quick. This could be a number of things but the dealer will jump to the conclusion you need a new catalytic converter or new O2 sensors (which COULD be true). But the problem may be with a PCV problem.

I took my car to the dealer for a diagnostic... charged me $75... and said I need a new catalytic converter (which I knew was new). I asked what they did as a "diagnostic" and all they did was use a scan tool.... no crap morons! I came in here telling you I already know what the code means!! They didn't do a boost test, vacuum test, or anything relevant to this KNOWN problem... in fact another Cruze owner was in the shop with me with THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO SOLUTION AFTER HAVING HIS CC REPLACED!! I could have saved the $75 and bought the equipment myself and run the tests on my own.... I don't know how the average Joe affords to drive this car.
