Equinox LT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15 miles

I've had electrical problems with this car since I purchased it in March 2005. I contacted the car dealer several times and visited them due to car unable to start or "sputtering". Initially, there wasn't anything that could be done because I would never experience the problem at the dealer. Eventually, the starter was replaced and the battery was exchanged more than 2 in a year but I continued to have the same problems even now. Eventually I learned to "gas it" in order to start the vehicle because returning to the car dealer every time something was wrong with it - I've had OTHER recurring problems with it as well - was too time consuming for me, a full-time employee and part-time student. At the time I didn't know of any other recourse, so I dropped it and suffered with this inconvenience but eventually I contacted GM directly and never got a response or explanation on my complaints. Additionally, as far as electrical problems go...the fuses burn out way to quickly. I'm lucky if the fuses to the cigarette chargers last more than 1 months. The battery always drains.

Equinox

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

I bought this vehicle February 21st 2011 from Lake City Exports Auburn Maine for $10,990 with 71,000 miles approx. The vehicle started to act up on occasion. Did not shift into geer on hills, had some rattling sounds in the front end. I had the car looked at and got the struts fixed under warranty.

Several weeks later we noticed it acting up. The temperature gauge rose and the engine light came on. We checked the fluids. The coolant was on the low side so we filled it up. It seemed to quench whatever ailed it...that is until May 14th 2011. We went to Lewiston Maine for a family event. The car lost traction while attempting to find a spot to park. It then seemed to fix itself and was okay.

On the way home it drove fine until it lost power going 55mph. The odometer went hay wire and we were unable to go any furthur. We parked the vehcile on the side of the road and debated what to do. My Husband tried to drive again and teh car was fine for about a mile and then it repeated the same action. We pulled over into a store area and called AAA. They towed it to a local auto mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed that the transmission modulator needed to be replaced. He encouraged me to get a new one, so this would not happen again. I complied. The part was $367.00 from the dealer I bought the car from. Once we acquired the part I brought it to my car. This is early July as I had not heard from the dealer (they had the wrong number) and I did not readily have the money to fix my car. Once the automechanic had the part, he replaced it and had some other person come to re program the car.

The same problem exsists. He is now going to see if it has to do with a sensor. Now after talking with Chevorlet, A Chevy dealership and Lake City Exports it is looking like I need to get the vehcile to the dealership and pay $75.00 for them to hook it up to their computer system. I am going to let the guy who has the vehicle attempt his thoughts of fixing it again first and I sure hope it is the solution. It does seem to me that I read this same exact problem from many other consumers on this site and am frusterated that Chevorlet does not recognize this as a common problem... Wanting to hear from you if you experienced anything similar to this and what your solution was. There is a video on my you tube showing the car going kaput.

Equinox LT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 61,000 miles

OK I bought this truck used in nov of 2007 and 2 days later I was driving down the road and the engine light, what I think is the transmission light and and also what I think is the traction control light ( TC ) comes on and then it was like I wasn't even pressing the gas. I could push it all the way to the floor and it would only go like 15 mph. I made it about a mile and then it cut off and would not start back. They came and got it said they reset the computer or something. This was 10 months ago and it has happened 6 times. Once it happened and by the time I could get someone to tow it, it ran fine, so I'm thinking this is what happened at the dealership, it fixed itself temporarily. The last time I took it up there they said it was a water leak, they supposedly fixed that too, that was about 6 weeks ago and now its back up there and has been there a week. And to think we were about to go on vacation, it would have been mighty sh*tty. Oh yeah they also had the nerve to tell me that my ext warranty didn't cover water damage
