I have spent hours and hours on the phone with Chevy telling them about my problem and emailed all channels I've been directed to by Chevy as well. My heater does not work and I can not see out of my wind shield at all when I drive. I have to drive with all of my windows down in freezing temperatures with my windshield wipers on in hopes I don't kill someone as my windows are frosted over, since there is not heat when defrosting. Chevy hides behind their extended warranty that ended in 2016 or 120,000 miles because it didn't happen to me until end of 2017 & under 58,000 miles.

I believe this is a safety issue, therefore, there should NOT be an expiration on faulty work. Faulty manufacturing should ALWAYS be covered and not have an expiration. Chevy has been absolutely infuriating to deal with. Don't buy Chevy unless you want a poorly made product that will have an endless stream of problems that Chevy will never stand behind and you'll end up paying out of pocket for their sub-par products. Am I angry and regret buying a Chevy-YOU BET!

The heating system no longer produces hot air for the heater/defroster. The problem has been identified as a broken (defective) cheap plastic arm that connects the temperature blend door to an actuator that controls the air blend. Estimated repair bill is $750-$1000. Living in the Northwest, it's crucial that I have a functioning heater/defroster system. A winter without such can prove to be disastrous, even fatal. What will GM do about this defect?

It seems this a very frequent problem in this vehicle and GM should have recalled the blend door. It is a safety issue. It is winter right now and if you cant use defrost you could be in an accident. Also I am very busy and dont have time to rip a dash out of this vehicle or do I have 1,000 dollars to have it replaced. I think its time to switch back to Ford.

I bought this auto new in 2006 and have had only minor issues. One issue early on was repaired under warranty.

We are coming into our Texas summer and the AC is only cool and after getting caught in a rain storm, I could not get any heat, then I realized that no matter what the control was on, there was no difference in the temperature. In researching the problem online, I found that the repair required a significant time and expense to replace the broken part. So I am saving my coins to get it repaired and maybe Chevrolet will issue a recall for it.

I have the 2006 Equiox. I called Gm and told them my problem with no heater/AC. They suggested I take it to a dealer have then check out the issue. This would cost me 89.00 just for the test (non refundable). I figure out with a friend that could run the diagnosis that the blend unit was shot. Funny this SUV was only 5 yrs old at the time. And to make this matter sicker, it was my lease that I bought out. Of course I called GM back and they gave me the run around not enough complaint files to have a recall. Well that just set me on fire. I call my local dealership where I purchase this car from it was 110.00 per hour. Well low and behold after doing some research and finding out what need to be done that would be and est of 1500.00 which I don't have. I have been driving this SUV around for 2 years with no heat/AC. I still need to get this repaired. However this is not the only issue I have had with this vehicle. I had to put a new drive shaft in, when I would insert the key it would not turn. Finally I drove it to the dealer park it in front of there overhead door and they could not get it started. At first the manger told me, I need to have the steering wheel in a current position. What BS that was when I got it there and he could not start it. To find out every time I was inserting the key into the ignition it was shaving off the medal and that's why it wouldn't turn. I will never buy another Chevy and I tell my friend the issues I have with them I have been purchasing Chevys since 1982. Well know that I got this off my chest I think I will call GM again and ride there tail end till I can get a little help getting this repair done.

I own an 06 Chevy Equinox and the heat stopped working last spring. I wasn't too concerned at the time because the A/C was working fine and summer was quickly approaching. Now that it's getting colder out and I need my heater to work, I started investigating the problem and was shocked to find out how common this has been for this model. Evidently, it is the heater blend door that is made of cheap plastic and is bound to break after a few years. To fix this part, the entire dashboard has to be removed and is very costly! My vehicle only has 43,369 miles on it right now.

Why hasn't GM done a recall? I never had problems when I drove Honda's!

My heat went out in the middle of a Chicago Winter (yikes) ... I ordered a blower motor, had my mechanic install it, worked for about a week, ordered a resistor, installed it, worked again for about a month, out again, he replaced the harness, lasted almost a month .... as of March 22, 2011, heat out again .. he traced the wires and found a burned wire, replaced that, today he rigged a new line he just so that I have heat, but here's the kicker, I can't turn the Heat knob, as soon as I turn the car on it blows at maximum heat and there's no way to turn it off unless he un-rigs it, but I do have heat! Turns out that it's the heater knob that's dead and needs to be replaced. So he should be replacing that fairly soon. This is Such a P.I.T.A. (pain in the A--)

I went out to warm my car up this morning as I usually do and when I went out 15 minutes later the car was still freezing. Luckily today was not that cold because I have a toddler who I have to transport in this car every day multiple times and cannot afford for her to be cold or over heated for that matter (the AC is messed up also). I have taken it to chevy dealer and its not under warranty and so they will not fix the AC unless i pay a million dollars for it and so today i will be making calls to see if a private mechanic is willing to cut down the price.

I've research problems with this vehicle and found so many of the same problem.

Some king of door that's the problem or the heater core needs replacement. GM knows about the problem and is not doing anything about it, no recalls or anything . I will call the dealer this coming Monday 1/7/2011 to find out what they can do to fix my car. I am not paying over $1000.00 to have this fixed.
