I was already having problems with my vehicle not starting, and when the vehicle finally started it was on for about two minutes and the engine completely died. After it died, the vehicle would not start back up and I had to have it towed to a mechanic shop, where they were not able to diagnose any problem.

My car started having an issue where it just shuts off while driving. It started at a litte over 50,000 miles and has been in and out of the dealership. They have replaced the ignition switch, and that didn't fix the problem. They have replaced a relay board, and it still didn't fix the issue. The car is back in the dealership again for the same issue. It doesn't matter what speed, if on the highway, city driving etc...it has failed many many times, putting me and the life of my children in danger. I am extremely frustrated that the issue hasn't been resolved. after reading so many forums and posts, this seems to be an issue that occurs a lot so now i am concerned that Chevrolet is not stepping up to fix this issue since it is so dangerous.

While driving my 2006 Chevy Equinox the car will just shut down at various speeds. It will restart but very scary when you are driving down a high way. I took the car to the Chevy Dealer in Mt. Pleasant, SC and they could not duplicate problem but thought it may be due to a dirty throttle body - a few hundred buck and the problem still exist. I took it back to the dealer and they said they were able to duplicate and they replaced the ignition switch for $244. I left the dealer and after only one mile of driving the car cut off again while driving. The car is back at the dealer and they have had it for 2 days - let's see if they solve the problem. I will update once I pick up the car for the 3rd time.

Equinox LS V6

My 2006 equinox will just randomly loose power but never cut off. the needles will jump up and down. This usually happens only when it rains. which for some reason seems to be only on the weekend..go figure! the dealership has replaced 21 connectors and the problem still exists! This is really annoying and could use any help that is offered!

Update from Jan 17, 2011: i can say its been 6 months and no more problems. the dealership replaced the PCM also known as the cars computer...if your having a problem and the dealership doesnt seem to care, thinks your crazy, or just cant seem to get the car to duplicate the problem, i strongly suggest calling GM...1-866-790-5600..warranty only covers this up to 60,000 miles

Love my Equinox except for this one issue. In the last 3 months, it has just died while driving for no reason. I was on the interstate doing 75 and it just shut off. The car starts back up and runs after this happens. But this is not a good thing to happen while speeding in the fast lane. I have been to my mechanic twice and they have not been able to figure out what is happening. None of the check engine lights come on. The last time that I brought it, it had a low voltage code, so they jiggled with some wires. I have also had the crank sensor replaced but it is still happening. Has anyone else has this problem and if so how in the heck did they fix it?

It has almost been 4 weeks so it might be safe to say I found a fix. I took the car to the dealership and of course they couldn't find anything wrong nor did the car act up for them. But they understood my frustration and helped. There is a part called the PCM. They thought this may be the issue so they replaced it. This part is covered under warranty up to either 8 years of owning the car or 80,000 miles. Either way, it was replaced for free and the car no longer dies while driving it. My gas mileage has gone down some but I think I can live with that. So, you may want to try this and see if it works for you - especially if it is still under warranty.

Update from Jan 16, 2011: Almost a year later and I can report that changing the PCM has resolved my issue (hope I don't jinx myself now). The problem has not happened since then. Like I mentioned in a previous post, gas mileage did go down some but I am ok with that. Thank goodness the mechanic had a hunch and went with it...
