Equinox LT 4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Air Bag Light has been coming on and off for several months. Dealer says that air bag will not work when light is on except that is who knows when. Why has 2008 Chevy Equinox not been recalled? RECALL ALREADY!

Equinox LT 3.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,658 miles

Service Air Bag light started coming on intermittently. Had it taken to the dealer who reprogrammed it but said that if it comes on again, I will need to replace it. Now it won't go off. Quoting me $1200 parts/labor to fix. It will not PASS Safety Inspection without correcting the problem which will not allow me to renew my vehicle registration. I see the recall went up to 2007. SO NOT RIGHT!!! Lot's of complaints with the same issue. UGH!

Equinox LX 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 177,000 miles

My air bag warning lights come on and when it does the cluster showing my miles driving messes up. I can't see what it says. I have to punch the buttons where you reset the trip meter to clear the air bag or seat belt messages to view the cluster again. How does a person get this to clear permanently. Again there are no codes.

Equinox LX 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 175,000 miles

For no apparent reason the seat belt warning light came on and there doesn't seem to be any reason or way to get it to go out permanently. So it is being driven with the seat belt warning on. Is there way to get this to go out and stay out. There are no codes showing.

Equinox LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

This is the same problem that 2007 had! Why aren't the 2008's being recalled? I love my car but feel unsafe with someone in front passenger seat as the airbag light is always on! We always buy Chevy's but may have to start looking at other brands since they don't stand behind their product!

Equinox LT 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,000 miles

35000 miles and the air bag lite comes on. I take it to my repair shop and they tell me the front passenger side sensor needs to be replaced. The cost for the sensor (front seat cushion is the sensor) $500... WHAT???? Sorry, I'm not paying that.

The problem with not fixing it... as long as the lite is on (air bag lite) none of the air bags will deploy should the car get in an accident. GREAT!!!

Looking for a fix to by-pass the front seat and keep the air bag system working.

Equinox LT

My Air Bag needs service light kept coming on, I paid the dealer for a diagnostic and they said it needs a right side passenger pressence module & reprogram for $1,065. I was very upset that they expect me to pay for an item that seems to be a safety issue. Should these sort of things be going out after 5 years? I drive to work and home alone so I hardly ever have passengers. I have now contacted Chevy directly to try and get this paid for by them, since I believe it should be recalled. They recalled the 2007 models so maybe they need to look online and see how many people are complaining about the 2008 models as well. This is a safety issue that they should take care of. I don't mind paying for things that break on my vehicle, but I feel this is a faulty part. I hope other 2008 Equinox owners that have this problem will also call or email GM headquarters.

Update from Aug 16, 2013: I have taken my issue to GM headquarters and they refuse to pay for the repair because the vehicle is out of warranty. I feel this is a safety issue and should be covered by them. I am still fighting with dealership to at least meet me half way. I really wish everyone that has a 2008 Equinox with this same problem would present it to GM headquarters so they will do a recall. Very frustrated with GM and their lack of caring.
