Equinox [2.4L L4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

It was summer and in the 80-90 degree range. I had no air conditioning. I brought into the dealer. They left it running in their air conditioned shop. Told me it had cold air coming out. Implied I did not know how to turn on correctly. I brought it in twice more till I got someone who listened at the Chevy dealership. Out come was whole system was shot. I was given a loaner car and GM paid for a whole new system. I went through 2 yrs of no air conditioning till someone listened to me.

Bought this vehicle with 61,000 miles on it! Less than a year that have owned this vehicle (I do not drive it everyday) and the a/c stopped blowing cold air. When Fall started setting in I needed some heat and NO HEAT !!! This also means NO DEFROST to keep windshield clear from ice and fog which means the windshield fogs up NO VISIBILITY!!! SAFETY HAZARD when you have to wipe the windshield by hand so you can see !!!

Made it home and now can't drive the car unless weather is perfect. Have been seeing LOTS of complaints on this issue from other owners and am trying to find a recall for this issue. Have been checking and repair costs are $400.00 to $1000.00. This is a severe safety issue due to visibility and GM needs to fix it at their expense!!

Will NOT EVER BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT! Have also warned my friends and family members. My brother-in -law has always bought GM all his life and now he owns a Subaru! My brother just bought a Toyota. Will continue to let people know about this junk Equinox !!!

On a hot summer day in Georgia, my air conditioner switch stopped working. It was stuck blowing in the floor on my feet. A few days before that, I noticed when I switched my AC to defrost, it started making a strange noise like it was struggling, there was a delay in the air flow, then it finally would switch to defrost. Over the course of a week or so, it finally just broke.

I took it in to an auto mechanic that said this is a very common problem with this vehicle. He said it would either be the air actuator or something else that was like $800 to fix! To my relief, it was only the actuator. One day in the shop and it was done. He said it was a real pain to fix.
