Equinox LT 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,140 miles

Rodents were apparently storing acorns in the blower assembly unit of my Equinox. There were so many that it caused the motor to freeze up and stop working. Replacement cost $562.27.

I believe this to be a design defect or flaw. How much extra effort would it take to block access (via screens or mesh ) to the inside of the blower motor assembly? This is not just a rodent making a home on top of an engine or in a crevasse somewhere under the hood. These rodents were able to travel to the inside of the blower assembly and store at least 50 acorns in there!! The GM dealership I went to said other people had similar problems, so I know I'm not alone. I would expect reimbursement from GM, since this is an obvious design flaw of omission.
