The service engine light came on and I took it to the shop. They checked and repaired what they thought that the problem was...light came on again took to the dealer and they checked and repaired what they thought caused the problem. Then all the lights started popping on and when the dealership checked. This time they discovered that the PCV was damaged and it in turn caused damage to the rear main seal and the timing chains.

How is the consumer to know what to have repaired when the dealership didn't know. No one checked because you have to go into the engine to locate the PCV. General Motors has nothing on the vehicle to notify you that this part should be replaced. Design flaw. They have lights/warnings to let you know about everything else why not one for something that could cause an extreme amount of damage. There must be some way to make them pay for this.

There was a recall on this part for certain 2011 Equinoxes but not all of them. WHY? Maybe I'll get an attorney and see about filing a class action lawsuit.
