Equinox LX 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

THIS CAR ONLY HAS 60,000 miles on it. Apparently had a recall, but my mother threw the letter in the trash. I bought the car, thinking what a good deal I was getting and now, I find out it probably needs a new motor for $5,000 at least.

Equinox ES 4 Cyclinder

  • Automatic transmission
  • 170,000 miles

The engine light came on and my vehicle starting stalling at stop lights so I took my equinox to Auto Zone for them to put the hand held code reader on the vehicle to tell me if there was a simple fix and it told me that I needed a solenoid. I replaced one and found out the vehicle has two, so I replaced it. Then the car would not start unless it had a jump. So I had to have the alternator replaced. Engine light still on. I had the oil changed and was told that I needed new plugs. Had those replaced and the engine light was still on. I finally took it to Mcarthy Chevrolet on Metcalf and was instantly told after it was supposedly hooked up to the Diagnostic Machine that I needed a engine. And it was going to cost me $10,000.00 dollars. I paid the $93.00 for the test and left. Well 6 months or so later the vehicle stalls at stop lights, consumes lots of oil and this morning on the way to work it keep wanting to stall while driving. And the engine light is still on.

Equinox LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

Where do I start? I have had many new vehicles with Hyundai and not ever did I have oil issues or problems with my engine as long as I kept the maintenance up on my car. So I decided to go outside of my box and get an Equinox because I believed in Chevy. Boy was I so wrong!!! I have had my car into the Reliable Chevy dealer place 3 times twice they fixed something that cost me $300 or more to fix a different problem which did not. I"m single person and can't afford a $120 every time you pull your car in for them to look at it and tell you what's wrong for it to be wrong.

The engine light keeps coming on and the oil keeps going somewhere and I have to keep putting oil in it many times throughout the month. My car only has at this moment under 75,000 miles and I have dealt with issues for a very long time. I just want someone to fix my car so it isn't a pain in the ASS no more. I hate the engine light comes on and stays on not knowing what the issue is neither does the dealer shop obviously. It's not the gas cap I have tried 5 or more of them. The oil is going somewhere and no one wants to fix it they want me to fix something that is the dealer's problem ever since I've bought the car.

I bought a new car that is a lemon for a year after having it. I'm not a complainer but this is just wrong. I bought a new car so I wouldn't have an issue like this for many years if I took care of it. I don't want the oil issue in my car to blow up my motor then I don't have a car anymore. Please make this right fix or give me a car with no problems.

Equinox LT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,500 miles

Bought 2012 Equinox used 1/21/2019 at 69,900 miles. Within a week check engine light came on. Code P0014 detected on scan. Replaced VVT sensors and Cam Sensors, second oil change, light continued on. Engine eats oil heavily. No leaks or oil burning. Car is a disappointment and now in shop. Excited at purchase and now depressing not being able to drive vehicle. Today began to stall and sputter in reverse. At take-off chugged badly, stalling at any stop. Terrifying to drive to say the least and won't even drive in traffic with my kids anymore. Paid a good amount for vehicle and this happens. Chevy has to take responsibility. Should've dug deeper before buying but always admired Chevy. Hoping this turns out to be a simple fix but after research doesn't seem that way. Expensive just for shop to diagnose. So sad.

The engine light comes on after a warning that the gas cap is loose. I have tightened and replaced the gas cap but still get the light. My mechanic confirms that it is the gas cap.

Equinox LS 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

So here we go again. 2012 and ANOTHER powertrain repair! So yeah yeah, it's covered under the powertrain warranty but what is it doing to the resale value of my car? I have a 2008 with 140k miles on it and I feel safer in THAT! I will be on the phone to Chevy next week to give them a piece of my mind. Will definitely update! BTW, they had the car a WHOLE WEEK before they freaking figured out exactly what was wrong with it!

I am truly disappointed with this vehicle it is a decent year with low mileage and the Chevy dealerships I have called have offered little to no help at all. I wish I could return this vehicle and I will NEVER buy another Chevy as long as I live.

Equinox LTZ 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

Engine light comes on and on and on, which when on other things don't work, ie cruse control, remote starter. Mechanics say this is not a random experience and no known fix as of yet. The mechanic say it's the throttle body and bad gas. My truck doesn't have this problem. Seems on 4 cylinder motors there is a lot of gunk that builds up on the valves and also causes less gas mileage, went from 32 mpg to approx.. 27mpg highway. The only good thing is that it happened before the warranty ran out. It's in the shop right now, again. The dealership has been fantastic so far, but this is the last time for them to try to fix it. We also had the dash board control lights go off when we were driving.

I have taken this car back to the dealer every other week because of the check engine light keeps coming on and its starting to annoy me because they can't come up with why it keeps coming on they keep telling me its nothing but its cold now and my automatic starter won't work as long as the light is on. I tried all brands of gas and noting seems to help and its back to the dealer again the light has come on again.
