Service Stabilitrak & Power Steering light comes on after initial start up or in the middle of driving intermittently cause car to jolt back & forth while driving which can cause an accident if someone or car is near, could hear that car was attempting to lock & unlock doors while errors appear on dash. When changing gears a jolt and loud knock sounds occurs, now check engine light appears, this has caused a new issue now code states to replace transmission valve body assembly-??Unable to locate part anywhere & I-??m not clear what may be causing issue since it happens intermittently. Changed battery, msgs stopped appearing on dash for a week. Boom hopes were high now msgs are there again-??.Total nightmare. I just bought this car!!!

My vehicle has all symptoms of the timing chain slipping or being loose. Just as millions of others who owns a chevy equinox with a 2.4 motor. Drives like crap, stalls out unexpectedly, which is very dangerous, exhaust fumes enter cabin of vehicle, toxicity to lungs. Extreme fuel intake consumption, erotic idle issues, extreme oil consumption all these issues have progressively gotten worse. This is very much a safety hazard in more than ONE way! GM needs to be held responsible and FIX THEIR problem selling such faulty and pitiful parts to their customers. After this I will NEVER own a chevy again. HIGHLY disappointed! Fixing a timing chain issue is NOT cheap, nor should it be the responsibility of any chevy equinox owner seeing as how there are so many other people who share the SAME issue, like duh. obviously, this is a manufacturer defect. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET"?????? This issue is a safety risk hazard to the customers of this vehicle. Obviously, the timing chains in these 2.4 motors of all years of equinox's are defective and GMC are the ones who need to be held responsible and fix THEIR mistakes, this is ridiculous, how has a recall not happened, there are millions of people with the SAME COMPLAINT??"

The 2014 Chevy Equinox will stall when accelerating. This happens when the vehicle is first started, this could potentially causean accident. I have taken my vehicle in numerous times and spent over 2K on repairs. Currently my vehicle does not have a check engine light on, no codes. It appears that everything is operating normally. It is not, I will not let my wife drive this car because I am worried that she could be involved in an accident. I recently found that GM had identified that this vehicle consumes a large amount of oil and it causing issues similar to what I am reporting. Only issue is they are requiring a oil consumption test requiring multiple visits to the dealership over an extended period of time. In the mean time I am going to continue to stall pulling into traffic, putting my life and others life at risk. There needs to be a mandatory recall and correct this issue. The attached picture shows the last two oil changes and the amount of oil retrieved. My most recent I had less than 2.5 quarts left. There is no leak on my vehicle, and I change my oil about every 5K miles per manufacturer suggestions.

Vehicle engine accelerated to 130 mph on speedometer with engine reving to that speed sound. Vehicle did not accelerate. This happened 4 times on the highway. I pulled off road on each occasion turned of engine and restarted as I was hundreds of miles from home. Had car towed to Chevy dealership at destination. As they cannot duplicate issue they will not repair even though I have a extended warranty. My vehicle now remains in 5 hrs away. I am afraid to drive it not knowing what is wrong. This puts myself and other drivers at risk on the highway.

May 2016, had issue with my 2014 Equinox involving the accelerometer pedal & sensor due to faulty wiring. My vehicle was just less than 2 years old with 62K miles at the time. We were driving down the highway, when the malfunction occurred and sent the vehicle into reduced engine power mode. When this happened the vehicle started to quickly lose speed down as it happened just prior to going up a hill. Had to try and get vehicle off to shoulder of highway, acceleration pedal was completely inoperable during this time. Call was placed to GM regarding this issue and my concerns that it could have lead to a crash, injury or worse. GM had no interest in covering this problem under any warranty and did not seem concerned at all with the issue or my concerns that the problem could have lead to a crash, injury or worse. In the end I was left with a $475 repair charge to replace an $80 part by the GM dealership.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving in reverse at approximately 5 mph, the instrument cluster information center illuminated intermittently. The manufacturer issued a customer satisfaction program where the radio was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The failure recurred sporadically seventy times within a year. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times, but was unable to locate the cause of the failure. In addition, the rear windshield exhibited a permanent film on the inner glass surface and, when exposed to direct sunlight, it distorted the contact's visibility. On separate occasions, when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle unintentionally accelerated. The dealer was unable to locate the cause of the failures. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 12. The VIN was unavailable.

Stopped with my foot on the brake waiting to pull out on the hwy. I had been there already about 1 minute, when all of a sudden the car accelerated which caused me to hit the vehicle in front of me (18 wheeler). It was as if your car is in park and you rev your engine. It wouldn't stop with the brakes. It seemed I had no control of my vehicle and it took off on its own. I have since read others having similar experiences of "taking off" or going from 2 RPM to 4 without their foot being on the gas. I also requested the dealership to check for any reason this may have happened besides fixing the damage to the vehicle.

I was driving my 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, purchased approximately 2 1/2 months ago brand new (now with approximately 2500 miles). As I was driving down a very busy road at 50-55 mph, several warning lights came on - ABS, stabilitrak warning, service engine - and the car began to lose power. Luckily, I was able to get the car off the road. Eventually, the lights went off and the car began to drive "normal". however, had this occurred on the interstate or if I hadn't been able to pull off the road, I feel the situation could have been much worse.
