Equinox Premire 2.0L T

After we purchased the car the salesman filled the tank. Upon leaving I remarked to my wife that he did not give us a full tank. The next week I filled the tank putting 10 gallons in after going 270 miles. The gauge indicated 3/4 filled. I took it back to the dealer. They gave me a loaner. We had the loaner for several weeks. They dropped the gas tank and replaced the float and filler tube. Gave us car back. Took it back because problem still existed. Gave us another loaner.

Did the same thing. They looked at program and software. Said to me that they didn’t have a fix. GM was working on the solution. This was in early Oct/2017. Every two to three weeks we would check, no solution. This was a real problem for us because we bought the car so we could travel. We were afraid to run out of gas. 6 months later no fix. We asked the dealer for a car that works. They told us that GM was looking into what can be done. The dealer said GM might by the car back?? We are very frustrated at this point. We love the car and want a new car that works the way it should function 🤓

I've had my 2018 Equinox in to Chevy service 5 times in the 93 days I've had the vehicle. The fuel gauge reads 3/4 when it is full. Service department said Chevy is aware of the problem and there is no remedy at this time. Service manager suggested I just fill up when I get to 1/4 from now on. This is a common problem with the 2018 Equinox, but not widespread enough to issue a recall and fix the problem. The service department will not even diagnose the problem and stated that Chevy had issued them a directive not to work on or repair the problem. I'm guessing they will wait until my warranty runs out and then have a magical cure.

Brand new car and the fuel gauge only reads 3/4 fuel after you fill it up. You're never sure how much gas you have. The dealer said there's no fix and they've known about it since July. In the same cluster the engine temperature gauge never gets half way. So is it a cluster problem or fuel system problem? Who knows. Bad quality control for a new car.

How can GM stay in business putting a product like this in the hands of customers that are only expecting them to do the right thing. I will NEVER by another NEW GM product. Too many companies putting out a much better product. You should not have to bring back a new vehicle the first week for repairs and then find out they aren't going to fix. Something as simple as a fuel gauge and they can't get that right!!!
