HHR

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,000 miles

I bought my chevy HHR,in 2008.It was cute and good on gas.It also had enough room for my son and myself. Most important it has a hatch, and only 1500 miles on it when purchased. The reason i sit here at work writing this complaint is because the car is in the shop once again, and im losing my mind!!! the front end sounds like its gonna fall off,the battery drains all the time, and i find myself stuck everywhere, its been in the shop so much,i could scream, and thats exactly what i've been doing all day. Both back window motors burn out, steering column replaced, sway bar(or what eva its called)radio gets no stations, everytime you drive over a bump,it makes a loud creaking sound, blinkers don't turn off, always needs brakes,(and i hardly eva use them)the other day while driving, the steering wheel shook so bad when i went over 40 mph...and they at the chevy are telling me,that its my after market dvd player,,and are charging me over $500. to fix....i've never been so mad in my life....someone please help!!!and oh yea 2 batteries later....i come home from vacation (5 days) and its dead in my friends driveway...any advice?

HHR ES 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

If you do not drive the vehicle everyday the battery will drain down. I replaced the battery once but that is not the problem. I turn everything off that I can, but it still runs the battery down. Has happened many times.

HHR LT 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 14,913 miles

Extremely frustrated - the dealership kept the car for a week and simply reset the computer, not investigating to actually solve the problem of no auto locks, no cruise, no auto start, etc. etc. This is the second time now for this problem. Not about to settle for a simple reset this time out - we only drove the car four times after the last reset!

Cruise control ,auto start and then a completely dead car.......happened one after another over a few weeks .The dealership in Idaho was completely useless [EDMARK SUPERSTORE Chevrolet in Nampa Idaho]...I thought if I bought through a respectable chev dealership I would be better off than buying from a used car lot.....but had the same result.

I was out in the cold by myself.

When I stepped into a dead hhr one winter morning....I was forced to pull the plates off it and put them on my old reliable 89 jimmy.

When the spring came along, I boosted the hhr and to my surprise it started....I then turned the DIS computer off and on and found out everything came back to life....

Its been running ever since....SAD TO SAY OUR NORTH AMERICAN AUTO BUILDERS AND DEALERSHIPS HAVE A LOT TO LEARN YET.... Imports are only getting stronger and I can see why.....
