My battery was dead, so I put a battery charger on the battery, then went to start the car. I turned the key for about three revolutions and then the car exploded! I wasn't sure what happened because I was sitting inside the car and there was snow on the windshield. I got out and there was plastic parts all around the car, and there were flames coming from the motor!

I look on here and see a number of things going on with my car. Rolling on hills, driver window switch, constant burning of spark plug wires, my keyless entry never worked, I've had roters turned and replaced numerous of times. But the 2 things that are bothering me are 2 parts that have been recalled for 2000 Impala don't match my VIN # for the recall. I don't understand if I'm haveing the same problems as they are. 1 is the rack N penion piece which is causeing the popin and stuff under the front end that most of the complaints you have are and the second is the intake manafold gaskets. Are they just replaceing these 2 items on police issued and taxis " and also the hesitation &shut off that everyone is talking about. I had the same problem it was a wireing problem that was laying on my exuast. I have had to fix normal wear and tear and don't mind. But a single mother of 4 and GM who do you think can afford to fix things more. And I feal that the should fix there faulty material as I have fixed my wear and tear. If that rack N penion breaks and I losse control of stearing in my car my family is aware of the problem and I promise it would of been alot cheaper to go ahead and fix it for everyone. It's sad that we have got to go to limits of putting ads in paper, calling people, and almost a act of congress to get any kind of help. How many cars have lost control of stearing" (rack N penion) what happens when I expect my keyless entry to work because I'm in danger and counted on it? or maybe when one of those wires that's burnig up catches my car on fire. Out of 600 complaints the three most complained about items rack in penion, wireing, and the car rolling bakwards were you keep 1 foot on the gas and 1 on the break. If that's not enough I don't know what is these are safety issues. I will gladley let someone drive mine to see.

I am having a motor problem with my moon roof. I was informed by a GM service tech. That this problem looks similar to a problem that Chevy had with model yr 2000-2002 Chevy Blazer SUV. The problem is that the motor has to be replaced and that is what happened to the SUV's. for those, Chevy did a recall and replaced at own cost. When I contacted GM, they claimed not to know about any problems with 2000 Impala's but when I asked about the Blazer recall they claim that without a VIN nbr they could not look it up in their system.

My 2000 Impala has a severe clunking when I make both left and right hand turns. Took it to dee's Chevrolet in biloxi, ms and had no success in getting my problems corrected. They said they had to duplicate the problem so they didn't fix it. Complaint number two, is the heater and air conditioning controls get very, very hot when taking short to long road trips. It has gotten so bad the ac will not work properly all the time. It will have to cool down, then it will work. And they still wouldn't fix it. Again, they wanted to duplicate the problem to fix it. You just can't drive it around town to make it happen.

When vehicle encountered slight vibration is common highway roads surfaces, the vehicle will jump, jerk and wander from side to side, favoring the right side. The rear of the vehicle without warning will brake away and try and begin to spin first left and then right.. when road conditions are wet from mist or rain, the vehicle will constantly try to begin a right rear sliding action as if the rear of the vehicle is try to come to come around and get in front of you while in a forward motion. Speeds at which this accurs is 45 to 70 miles an hour. Loss of forward, directional control will accure, vehicle wanders back and forth. Vehicle will fishtail on wet road conditions. Very sever corner to corner tire wear. Rear tires conpletely bald. Constant tire rotation proves worthless. Vehicle will pull to right front when brakes applied. Front to rear alighnment problems. No specs available from dealership for alighnment. Set rear camber, both sides by eye. An uncontroled highway spin resulted in sever vehicle damage. Engine stalls at upon acceleration, slow speeds, street lights, stop sighns., etc. Vehicle will roll forward while in a reverse action such as; backing out of a parking lot, drive way.,ect. Purchase dealership refuses to scknowledge complaints of vehicle failures, facts, conditions. Was told by general service manager that the problems and issues surrounding this vehicle and it's accident, " its a legal issue of libality, that we no longer can not and will not have anything further to do with you or this vehicle." Was told by service technician that in regards to the facts or conddtions surrounding this vehicles problems causing the sever tire wear conditions that, " I was screwed"...( dot number: 1089ms tire size: P255/60R16 )
