Impala LS 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

a/c compressor shaft broke. One of many many expensive problems with our 04 Impala.

This car was junk right from the get go when we bought it new in 04. This car was so bad that our dealership was able to convince GM to put an extended warranty on this car to cover it for a total of 5 years or 65k miles. Serious and expensive problems have continued with this car after the extended warranty expired. It now has only 62000 miles and it is starting to rust in the doors. What a piece! Looking for a used Impala? Stay away from them! JUNK JUNK JUNK

Impala 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission

My A/C quit on me while I was driving on the Kennedy Expressway during rush hour traffic in Chicago. It was a scorcher of a day and the temp outside was somewhere above 90 Fahrenheit. I was creeping along at 10mph chill'n nice and comfy when suddenly the A/C started blowing hot air. It got hot very quick in my 2004 Impala and I rolled down the windows. Normally Chicago has a constant breeze of some sort, but not that day. The Windy City had no wind that day, of course. So I sweat it out until the next day when I took it into an independent repair shop and they looked at it and said it was the Condenser. Furthermore I had water sloshing around inside the dash-board. The A/C drain plug was clogged and started leaking water into the passenger side. They charged another $45 to drain the clog.

Every car I have ever had, both foreign and domestic, always seems to have an A/C unit that goes bad at 100,000 miles. I have had several other problems with the car and have decided to simply run the thing into the ground until it goes no more.

Impala LS Sport 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

Unfortunately, there is not enough space for me to "unload" about the worst car ever built, the 2004 Chevy Impala.

Although this states that there is no limit, trust me, I care to keep full use of my fingers by not testing out the "no limit" claim on a rant or rave.

Now then, to make this short and sweet, bought the car brand new (it had 17 miles on it). Cost of vehicle: $24,000 or so. Cost of repairs for owning the vehicle for the past 5 years: $7,322.63...to be exact.

Things that needed to be repaired or changed:

1) Driver-side head lamp unit at 200 miles, it mysteriously fogged up.

2) Instrument cluster....twice mind you.

3) Car stereo (the CD player turned into some weird Quintan Tarantino type weapon that literally "shot" out the CD's)

4) Air Conditioning unit needed to be replaced

5) Rack and pinion steering cracked (didn't even take the crappy car off-roading)

6) All 4 wheel bearings needed replacing

7) Radiator pump tube, which was worth literally $1.29, busted and needed replacing.

How many miles did this car have when I traded it in? 69,434

It must have been a lemon, but the "experts" claimed that it did not meet Hawaii's lemon law requirements....yeah...whatever.

Soooo, I traded it in last month and got myself a Toyota 4Runner. Looking forward to a long period (knock on wood) of headache free driving enjoyment.
