Impala

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

2004 Chevy Impala. Only 40,000 miles. The car started to lurch and jump over a year ago. The GM Dealer in Medford Oregon claimed nothing was wrong. Finally, they replaced the transmission. Said they found a lot of metal pieces in the transmission fluid. Because the car with this problem lurches forward it is possible to cause an accident. GM needs to take responsibility. I am sure that GM has enough feedback from this problem from dealers, consumers etc., to own up to their responsibility of paying for the needed replacement of transmissions that consumers are getting dumped with because they thought they were getting a "good ole honest american car" GM take care of the problem!

Impala 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

This started about 110,000 miles. When you are going at highway speeds mainly 50-60mph it will start surging like its trying to shift down and go on, but it doesn't. If you shift it manually it goes away, but when you put it back into drive it comes back. We took it to a transmission shop to get it fixed, because it shifted hard also, and he said that a rebuild would fix it, well it didn't! TPS didn't work nor did a mass air flow. Do you have any answers or can you point me in the right direction?
