Impala LS 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 67,729 miles

Received a recall for front passenger 'wiring issue' for the Airbag that could cause passenger sensor not to work and the airbag would not then deploy. Booked an appointment at the dealer and was told when arrived 'that that the issue you are having is exactly what this recall is for" as expected (seriously) got a call the next day saying that the issue was non-related and the passenger seat sensor would have to be replaced at an approx. cost of $1300.00 or so. They told me the little seat sensor alone was $928.00, its probably a $10 switch made in Mexico or China. I told them to put it back together without fixing. We will now not use the front seat for our family. After so many recalls on these airbag issues and seeing many times people having issues fixed and still are experiencing other issues, well I can no longer trust this Chevrolet/GM product and have absolutely no confidence that the $1300 fix would even cure the issue at hand. My other vehicle is a Honda and have not yet had any recalls on the airbags etc. and all other recalls have been handled in a proper manner I believe. Perhaps time to sell this GM product and buy a higher quality foreign vehicle??
