While driving northbound on I-75 in southern ky, the car suddenly lurched a little and "traction control" and "stabilization" errors displayed followed by "reducing power." And, the check engine light came on. I called my Chevy dealer and asked if it was safe to continue driving - they said yes, as long as the check engine light wasn't flashing. We went about 5 - 10 more miles and the display flashed something about throttle problem and then "shutting down engine", which it did immediately with no warning while we were doing about 70 - 75mph in the middle of the 3 northbound lanes of I-75. I had to try to steer to the shoulder with no power steering or brakes. Once there, I tried to restart the car and nothing happened - it displayed "starter disabled." We called our road service and they took our info, found the nearest Chevy dealer who said they could work on it asap if we got it in there. While they were working on setting up a tow I tried starting it again. It started but the check engine was still on. I tried driving a little along the shoulder and it seemed ok so I said we'd try driving to the dealer rather than wait for a tow truck. We made it. They got on it fairly quickly and found the problem was the gas pedal position sensor. We were fortunate that the traffic was light and I could safely pull off. I hate to think what the results would have been if this had happened earlier as we were traveling thru atlanta with its 6 lanes of heavy traffic. Suddenly losing power and control in that traffic would probably have caused one of those multi-vehicle accidents that make the national news. What kind of incompetent programming of the car's computer would trigger a full, instant shutdown because of a faulty accelerator pedal position sensor? I would suggest an immediate recall to re-flash the computer to eliminate the no-warning shut down.

It had snowed overnight and I was driving 60 miles per hour going downhill when the traction control light and the engine light came on and then where the odometer reading is it said engine power reduced and then check traction control and check stabilizer. I did make it to work as the car shock as the car felt like it was going to die. I did let it sit all day while I was at work and then when I started it the engine light was still on and it ran ok. I took it across the street and parked it at the Chevrolet dealership and since it is Sunday they are not open and I will stop by in the morning to let them know what is wrong to have them check it out. We have had this car for a year and considering not owning another Chevy.

Then restarted it again it was fine for a month. It repeated same problem. Now check engine light stays on.hdhad code read saying throttle cable and traction control.to me that is a serious issue. This is something that needs to be addressed. Highway driving this problem could cause an accident.I can see this has been a issue with General Motors with Impala and other models since 2008.how many of the same complaints would it take until its fixed.complaints keep coming up after throttle bodies replaced still having same problems. General Motors needs to get with the program.

My wife and I were traveling North on pa route 15. We were on speed control at 55 mph. An error signal appeared on the dash board saying service trakcontrol a few seconds later a signal said--- losing engine power. I was able to get to a somewhat narrow shoulder in a few seconds before the engine died. I could not start the car. A called aaa and after 45 minutes was towed to a garage in dillsburg. Just before the tow truck arrived I was able to start the car. The mechanic tried to determine the cause and could not. I decided to drive on to my destination in. NJ the error signals appeared once more but I was able to pull into a service station and sit. I restarted car and drove to my destination. The next day I went to "rt 46 Chevrolet"in NJ three days later a new accelerator pedal was installed and I was able to drive to my home in NY state.. it was very scary to lose power on a hwy at 55 mph and I wonder about trusting the car!!!!!

In April 2011, I was driving on expressway and the check engine light came on and warning read reduce engine power, service traction control, service stabilitrac and then engine cut off and I coasted to shoulder of hwy. The car finally started back up after a few minutes. I had to buy $100 accelerator pedal position sensor. Now on June 28, 2013, only 2 years later, it is doing the same thing again so I have to buy another one. The warranty on it only lasted 12 months. I bought this car in October 2010 and this problem started in April 2011.this car is just 3 years old and from reading on the web, there are alot of Chevrolet having this problem. I'm reading about model years from 2007 with this same issue. GM should have addressed this problem by now. I need help with this issue!!!!

I was on the highway one time doing about 65 and the car just shut down, I was on an incline/ramp and an 18 wheeler was behind me and I could have been killed. I have taken the car into to get the codes ran but can not seem to get to the root cause. I am thinking about just giving the car back and having it go on my credit.

I have a 2010 Chevrolet Impala lt with 65,000 miles. I was almost in an accident. A deer ran onto the highway on May 12,2013. I was going 60 mph and then made a sudden stop. The next day my check engine light plus the traction control system light came on.... now, I only had this car not even 2months and making payments and I am having problems with it (already). Any other car that I had have in the past I made sudden stops and check engine lights never comes on. Whats going on with the Chevrolet Impala? they look nice but they are sssoooo not worth the cost to purchase or to get repaired. This is the only bad investment I have ever made in my life. I should have stuck with my Mazda. I will let it be known to anyone who ask me about Chevrolet to dont even bothered. There are better cars than the Chevrolet. This car is also a gas guzzler. I put $50 in the tank every 5 days when driving locally. I only work 10 minutes from my house. Everytime you stop you loose gas mileage on your dic the gas is great on the highway though. Like I said the worst investment I have ever made. Chevrolet....im so upset and disappointed.

It also said engine at reduced speeds. The traction control failed at hwy speeds which left me coasting to reduced speeds and then the car shut off at 20 mph with no power steering or braking. I was able to coast off the highway into a parking lot off the service road.

I had purchased a 2010 Chevrolet Impala in July, 2010. The first attempt at repair of the front end vibration was on 10/22/2010. The dealership did not recognize the vibration. The vehicle tires were rotated on 01/26/11 in an attempt to stop the vibration in the front end. The vehicle was taken in on 03/18/11 for front end noise (thump) while turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 07/07/11 for the thumping noise in the front end while turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 07/28/11 for a front end thumping noise when turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 08/16/11 for a front end thumping noise and the dealership notices the tires were wearing slightly cupped on the inside edge. The vehicle was taken in on 09/08/11 for a whining noise from the engine bay and power steering fluid was flushed. The vehicle was taken in on 04/09/12 for front end thumping noise, wheel bearing, transmission surge, and whine noise from radio. The vehicle was taken in on 06/27/12 for rough idle, tire replacement, transmission. The vehicle was taken in on 07/27/12 for rough idle, transmission surge, thump noise in front end and whine noise in radio. The vehicle was taken in on 10/05/12 for transmission surge, rough idle, thump noise in front end, and whine noise in radio. The outcome at this point is the dealership tried to reprogram the vehicle, GM approved replacement of all four tires, a replacement of the power steering pump, wheel bearing on driver front side. The dealerships have done two throttle body cleanings. The dealership has stated they will replace the rotors but GM would not approve replacement only turning on the rotors. This case has been opened with the better business bureau whom advised me to contact NHTSA. GM refuses to replace parts because their computer system cannot tell them what is wrong with the vehicle. GM has recalled the police vehicles for front end suspension and has a lawsuit pending in Michigan for personal vehicle.
