Impala Police 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

I have a continuing problem with my Impala - when I turn the steering wheel to the left I get a grinding noise. This is scary because I've taken it to my mechanic & he doesn't hear it or experience it, so he says it's probably nothing. I believe this is a SAFETY ISSUE that Chevrolet should recall. I also have another problem with a noise in the dashboard when I first turn the car on or after I turn the car off. It sounds like a machine gun. It continues for about 5 min.

Impala LT 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

This car has been doing this grabbing and locking up and making a grinding noise for the entire five years we have owned this vehicle. I have reported this to my dealer, Sand's Chevrolet in Surprise, Arizona several times and they say they can not find a problem. Over the years this had happened at least 20 times, the dealer says when it happens bring in. Has car in recently and now they tell me lower control arm bushings cracked, I do not know if this related but it is great timing. The car now had 65,000 miles and still having problem! I know this dealer thinks my wife and I are just a couple of older folks and we will just go softly into the night! GM should stand behind their product! We have purchased several cars from this dealer however next time we may look down the street.
