I bought my 2000 Chevy Malibu from rod and ty's all star auto in puyallup, wa on 7/5/05. I bought the extended warranty/repair insurance. I have put over $600 of repairs into my car, only to find out that I need a new fuel pump, which is another $756.26 and the warranty people will only pay $425 for a substandard part. I also have some wires I need to have replaced, the A/C has never worked, even though they told me it did, the cd player destroys my cds and sometimes just won't play them at all, and I have a squeaky sound coming from the steering or suspension on the front end of my car. I paid over $13,000 for this car when it was 5 years old and had 74K miles on it (I got screwed) and now all these problems are coming up on it. The even cr*ppier part is, I still owe $9000 on it and it's only worth $2500 on trade in. What the heck am I supposed to do with this lemon piece of cr car" I'm super angry and will never buy another american car ever! by the way, I checked carfax and 11 records came up for this car! should I pay the $19.99 to find out about my car, or is 11 records pretty normal? should I worry"!

Fuel pump needed to be replaced on 2/01/06 - cost of repair $800. When service was completed, GM mechanic informed me that the intake manifold gasket is leaking and causing coolant to mix with oil in the engine. The estimated cost to repair is an additional $1,000! we have not yet had the part repaired due to the cost and the car has had limited use since. GM should issue a recall on this already and stop having the consumers pay for their lack of use of reliable parts!! this is obviously a major problem given the number of complaints listed.

I have already filed complaint in regards to the hazard light recall, which for some reason does not cover my 2000 Malibu. I noticed other complaints on the Malibu and figured I would throw my two cents in. I to have had to drop over $1000 dollars into the most defective car I have purchased this includes the $200 piece of junks I bought when I was a teenager. My list of problems. 1. coolant system leak cost $700 note: Mechanic laughed and said this happens all the time is this type of engine. In reviewing other complaints, the one really stands out. Nice I am glad GM owns up to its problems. 2. brakes constantly need to be replaced well below mileage. Glad GM saved a few bucks under sizing the rotors. 3. within a year the fans switch (levels 1,2) and lighter stopped working. Boy GM is saving lots money now. 4. within the past year I had fuel pump failure, nothing like traveling in rush hour traffic doing 75mph and car totally dieing. Boy GM has made one quality car. 5. the last insult, my first and likely last GM product is when I thought boy I finally get something from GM in regards to one small defect, the hazard switch, I find out that my vehicle is not covered by this recall. Wow not only I am out at least $1000 bucks on piece of crap product, GM does not even want to give a bone to hungry man. With this type of product it is no wonder GM is losing market share faster than any other automotive company. Keep up the good work GM. Clearly the are some serious defects with this vehicle and the gms ownership with defects.

Vehicle stalled while driving on highway I-295 South at 65 mph. Apparently, gasoline was not getting to the fuel pump. Almost caused an accident; I had to coast from the fast lane to the shoulder (three lanes)...it was scary! vehicle was towed to dealership (brandow Chevrolet, florence, NJ). The fuel pump relay and sender was bad. Had to be repaired/replaced.

As reading over the website I notice the 2000 Malibu is pretty much a lemon. I have had to replace the radio, pretty much every gasket in the engine, the fuel pump, brakes front and rear, now my turn signals don't work, just found out about the recall I have to check to see if I qualify, my engine knocks on cold starts, and it practically losses all power when I go to accelerate.. and top it off my transmision slips.. this vehicle needs to be looked into.. and something needs to be done about it.

We unfortunately own a 2000 Chevy Malibu. We have already replaced the rotors several times for going out of round. We have also replaced the fuel pump at less then 50,000 miles at the cost of $728. The air conditioner pops on and off on its own not cooling for the most part. The turn signals are nonfunctional and our VIN number is not included in the recall although it should be. Then there is the transmission slipping and the coolant leaking and the car overheating we are told this is a manifold intake gasket and will cost around $800 to fix. The newest problem is the factory installed radio tuner is burned out and now we have to replace the radio costing yet another $100 dollars or so this car has nickel and dimed us too much. After looking over your site I found these to be numerous complaints on the same year and model. I feel this car was a lemon across the board not just ours but, all 2000 Malibu's. please look into these cars on a whole they were very badly manufactured and we all deserve some compensation for it.

Going to work car just dies. Waited for a tow truck. Took to my mechanic. He replaced the fuel pump. My car is a 2000 mailbu which only has 15,000 miles on it. Cannot belive that this part would fail that soon. This repair cost me $500 the part alone was of course a dealer only part. Was $350 plus a filter. Outrageous. Are these things made out of gold.

While driving 50-55 mph on the highway, the engine stalled without warning. The consumer coasted to the side of the road and sat for several minutes. Malibu 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,000 miles
While driving and/or attempting to use the turn signal, a short in the flasher switch made the turn signal inoperative and made other electrical components inoperative (ex. Gauges, radio and A/C fan). The electrical problem also caused the engine to stall. When the consumer pushed the flasher switch repeatedly the electrical components would work temporarily. The fuel pump was replaced to alleviate the stalling condition. The technician has identified a problem in the flasher switch but has not replaced it. A recall on the switch is scheduled to start later in 2004 however the consumer's vehicle is not included in the recall due to VIN.

Front disc brake rotors are warping again after being replaced at 12000 miles. When brakes are applied steering wheel vibrates excessively. Dealership is denying any responsibility of repair. The fuel pump failed and was fixed at the consumer?S expense. The tires became worn out and were replaced. The front rotors were turned.
