Malibu

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

In October of 2012 my a/c became very tempermental and would only blow cold air sometimes. I took it in and was told it was the thermostat. Of course, had it replaced and it seemed to work for about a week. When it's not scorching hot outside and the car is stopped, the a/c blows freezer cold air. However, if I'm driving, it only blows cool air and if I'm driving fast (on the highway) it only blows hot air.

I was told that my compressor was bad and didn't work at all. Well, if it's completely broken, why does it blow cold air when I'm stopped? Of course, they couldn't answer my question. Haven't had it fixed because I don't believe it's the compressor. After reading some of the complaints on here, I will definitely be looking into the wiring shortage mentioned.

Malibu Maxx LS 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,000 miles

Late last summer it felt like the AC was not cooling as it should. I held off the repair as cooler temps were getting close. As this summer began, I had to take action. No prior AC work done before, so had mechanic recharge the system. It worked great after that! Until I drove it again a week later, no cooling with AC on Max output. Spoke to mechanic again, he stated that he noticed the AC seemed to work, then didn't. He thought it might be a loose switch. It worked only OK after that for another few weeks before I traded it in!

Malibu Sedan 3.50 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

The car's air compressor went out, after that was fixed the car hasn't acted the same since. The AC works on days when it is not real hot outside. On days when the temp reached around 90 degrees the AC might work and it might not (most of the time NOT). It has been in the shop 4 times in the last 3 weeks and no-one can seem to find the problem. Just wish someone could find and fix the problem.

Malibu ES V6

  • Automatic transmission

The car jerked suddenly when the A/C was on, and then suddenly the Air Conditioner stopped working. The most annoying part was that this happened 4 miles after the warranty was up!!!

Malibu LTZ 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,200 miles

The last thing you want in the middle of July is for your cars AC to go out, well mine did. I took it down to the dealership and they were idiots and had the car all day, the other thing is that i had a call around 5 o clock from a friend who saw the car being hot rodded down the highway. Oh was i pissed. They said they couldn't find the problem, then later they discovered that a pressure (i have the automatic climate control) gauge was defective, simple fix, yet the aggravation was horrid

Malibu LT 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission

A/C quit blowing cold air through the vent. Took the car to the dealer and they had it for several days. They found a short in the wiring behind the dash panel. The car was also low in freon.
